Had a lovely dinner here with good service. A bit overpriced for its quality, which is expected. The oysters and spot shrimps were super fresh and delicious. The cream cheese ice cream was good as well. The (free) amuse bouche was very underwhelming. Not a fan of the shrimp n grits—shrimps and sauce were great, but the combination of grits and nuts did not work for me. Also tried the strawberry nojito, which will be a skip for me. If I go again, I’d order exclusively from the appetizers/seafood list and the fresh sheet
Note that this place is extremely popular and does not take reservations. Tried to go right when they open and leave your name on the waitlist
You can’t go wrong with this place. The chef and staff were top notch. Worth the wait for a table. Best meal I have had in a year- anywhere!!

The Cookery offers a nice dining atmosphere, but we found the prices to be on the higher side compared to other nearby options. The menu focuses on wine, with no IPA beer choices available. While the food was flavorful, the portions were quite small for what you pay—especially the salmon fillets, which were noticeably smaller than at other places. We left feeling like we wanted a bit more for the price.

When the locals say it’s the “best place to eat in the state” they aren’t lying! Wonderful oysters, brussel sprouts, mushroom toast, shrimp and grits, and homemade cream cheese ice cream! Get your name in early because it often has a wait, but it is worth it!

People start lining up prior to the 5:00 opening as The Cookery does not take reservations. We had a 15 minute wait as they seat parties in a staggered fashion so as not to overwhelm the staff, and it works well.
We had two small children with us and the staff was very attentive promptly determining their seating needs, getting them water in pirate cups, and getting their food order started early.
The amuse bouche was a delicious puff pastry with smoked salmon. We each had delicious, fresh raw oysters. We shared squash bisque, Coho salmon, and halibut for our entrees. They were all very good. We especially thought the halibut was extremely tasty. A bottle of wine and two great desserts rounded out our meal.
Wait staff was attentive. We have had great meals at breweries and food trucks in Alaska, and we also enjoyed our fine dining experience too.

Absolutely absurd wait time for a very average menu. There are a dozen other restaurants in Seward; they’re all at least this good.
The halibut dip and soup de jour were absolutely delicious! Definitely recommend The Cookery for a wonderfully tasty dinner experience. We could peek into the kitchen from our table and you could see the passion in the chef’s preparation of everything.

Excellent upscale food experience in an unpretentious atmosphere, as if the family cook went to culinary school.

The food was great as was the service. Got halibut chowder and a round loaf of excellent bread to make a bread bowl. Instead I just ate the bread with butter, since it was so good.

We love the entire dining experience at the Cookery, from the food to the serving staff! We have thoroughly enjoyed all menu items, especially the oysters, but the amuse-bouche, (complimentary amusement for the mouth) really tickles our taste bud fancies!!
