Came in for dinner and don't know that I've ever been so disappointed with a restaurant. I ordered one of their specials, the chimichanga, and don't know that I've ever had worse tasting food in my entire life. Furthermore, the guacamole was nothing more than Wholly Gaucamole, and their salsa had an extremely bitter, rotten aftertaste.When I raised my concern with the server, she told me I'd still be charged for the item because it's not her fault I didn't like the food, and, ultimately, nothing was actually wrong with it. Considering I ordered a chimichanga and got something nothing like it that tasted horrible, I would say it's their fault and not mine.I ordered quesadillas as a different entree (after one bite of the chimichanga, I couldn't eat anymore). I should have learned my lesson about ordering Mexican food from them. The quesadillas were mediocre at best. Once again, the meat was completely unseasoned and had pretty much no flavor whatsoever.Needless to say, I will never be back here and would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone. The other four people in my party were also very unimpressed with their meals. If I could give them 0 stars, I would.

Amazing food! The steak my husband ordered was as bloody as we love it, thick and tender! My tortellini was very flavorful, cheesy and hot. Would smash this food again! ?

I couldn't tell you about the quality of the food or drinks because we never got any. My husband and two friends just wanted a drink and an appetizer, so we all sat at the bar. We waited 20 minutes before being acknowledged and then when we were acknowledged we were told we couldn't order just drinks when it was this busy. There were three tables with people. She told us she couldn't get to us so if we wanted anything we would have to wait. Really terrible service!! In the time we sat there listening to her tell us how and why she couldn't just sell us drinks she could have poured two beers and two glasses of wine, taken a food order and delivered food to a four person table. Instead she had four patrons walk out.

Mike's has a lot of different kinds of food available, but it seemed to focus on Italian, so that's what we chose to order. The penne vesuvio and chicken Alfredo were both large portions, tasted good, and came out quickly. The bar seating faces out towards the harbor and PWS, and is a nice place to relax and warm up.

The 5 star reviews are definitely fake or the people that wrote them are used to such terrible food so that they actually like the food at Mike's Place. Personally I believe these people are paid for their 5 star ratings!!Our food was horrible and cold, the staff was friendly but mostly incompetent, the restaurant looks old fashioned and not clean. Any normal person cannot like this place.

Very disappointed. It wasn’t very crowed but the service was painful. My friend ordered a salad … didn’t get the dressing she asked for. I ordered a hamburger and it way over cooked, no taste, fries were bland. Took forever to get our check at the end because the waitress was busy with a large table in the back and nobody else to help her out.

Food was delicious. I was hesitant to come from the reviews but once we read the bad reviews, we realized it was not regarding the food. A restaurant review should first be about the food. Yes service is important but im looking for a place with good food. We ordered calamari, the shrimp and seafood soup as the mains. We came around 2pm so it was not crowded. Food was out quick and hot.

Went to Mike’s on Sept.9th because they were the only restaurant in Valdez that was not busy. That should have been my clue.
The food was ok, but the service was horrible! The waitress was awful to my granddaughter. She wanted to order her own meal and the waitress rolled her eyes, interrupted her after about 3 seconds and asked “is anyone else ready to order? I am too busy for this!” My daughter ordered for her, and her little heart sank!
We then asked her what “checca” was as a few sandwiches said they had “checca” on them. She said “I don’t know! Some white sauce?!?!”
Well, it isn’t white sauce, it is tomatoes with herbs. My daughter picked them off as she is allergic to tomatoes.
So rude! Not knowledgeable of the menu and the sole reason we will NEVER be back!
Don’t waste your time at Mike’s!
Go to The Fat Mermaid instead, awesome food, laid back atmosphere and wonderful service!!
