Only restaurant review.
A huge piece of halibut in an amazing burger in the middle of nowhere.
In our camper adventure from Mexico City to Alaska we stopped in Whittier and had a halibut burger here, as we were speechless with the first bite, we crossed the tunnel just to have another for breakfast the next day.
The server was so lovely!!

WARNING! DO NOT EAT AT THE RESTAURANT OR STAY AT THIS HOTEL!! ! Warning they made me pay for our room $315 for one night when I made the reservations. When we ate at the restaurant the eggs were not fully cooked and the whole meal tasted awful. So we couldn’t eat it. But my stupidity i paid $62 for three meals. Never did stay at the hotel because we went by it and went inside it smelled awful it is NOT a hotel is an old ARMY BUILDING !! Oh no!! We were not staying in that awful place and they refused to give my back my money because they said i did not cancel within 48 hours. They take advantage of people because there is very limited hotels there.

We ate here and the service was horrible! We were seen twice but ignored for 25 min. Just when we were gonna leave they came and were rude. Too hungry to leave no other non fish place to eat!!!

Rooms from a previous era, a view from the window of the cargo port and scrapped cars.
However, this is the only hotel in Whittier so there is no choice.
However, despite looking like a local bar, the restaurant had great food and good service

Check in at the restaurant but rooms are above the grocery store. Room had coffee maker, fridge, and TV. Not the most spacious but had the essentials and was clean.

Rooms: Compact with TV, fridge, and coffee maker

Walkability: Short walk from train station and cruise terminal

Food & drinks: Anchor Inn Restaurant right next door with solid breakfast and lunch. Be mindful that breakfast stops at noon

For Christmas, our children bought us a fishing charter with Big Irv's out of Whittier, & also booked us a room at the Anchor Inn the night before so we wouldn't have to travel from Anchorage to fish. The room was a suite on the 14th floor where we had a beautiful mountain view. We only got to stay a few hours as we had to be at the pier at 6:45 AM. The room was a little dated, but comfortable, clean, and large..we could have had guests & a party with the nice kitchen. However, the most impressive part of the stay was that I left behind a valuable necklace my husband had given me 44 years ago. I was heartbroken. However, the gentleman who had greeted us & that we had noticed was handling many duties, must have found it. When my daughter called, they said it had been found & they mailed it to my Army 2nd Lt. grandson in Anchorage. He then mailed it to me, & I received it today. The honesty displayed by the folks who run this hotel is very much appreciated. I can't thank them enough, and we all send blessings their way...and many hugs!!!

*Review for the restaurant only* It was surprisingly good given the exterior of the place. The fries were exceptional. The server was attentive and friendly. I will eat here again next time I'm in Whittier.

I would NOT recommend staying here. I choose this room at it was one of the two ONLY options in town. We had a glacier cruise the following day out of Whittier so I wanted to be close by. I would recommend staying in Girdword or Anchroage instead.

The rooms are super outdated and did not look to be very clean. The building was built in the 1950's-60's so there is history there which I'm totally in to, but I would not stay here again.

There was only one window that opened in the room with no fan. This provided little, to no air flow in the room.

No ice machine on site but was told I could buy it next door at the store.

Do note, you have to walk up stairs to access the rooms. No elevator.

The hotel is right next to the train/cargo depot where they constantly loading and unloading cargo. This went on well into the morning with a train leaving at 1:00am! Lots of noise!

You check-in in the restaurant in the building next to the "hotel builidng". They were not overly helpful or friendly. I felt as though I was more of a problem to them than a guest.

Small refrigerator, coffee maker and television provided. Onsite museum and convenient store.

*Review for restaurant only*

Food was not great, definitely not worth the price. Vegetables seemed like they came from a can, baked potato was cold, and dinners came with a Hawaiian roll. Two people at our table ordered the salmon steaks and they said it was so dry, almost inedible.

Service is less than stellar, staff seemed more interested in talking to each other than serving customers and were very loud.

Would not recommend.
