I was at the Wild Catch Cafe with my family for quite a while as we waited for the train, and the people were so welcoming! The food and coffee are delicious! The best we have had on our entire Alaska trip! We can recommend the fish and chips, the bison burger, the fries, the chai latte and the mocha. Wild Catch Cafe is the best place in Whittier!

Showed up late on the 4th of July and these great Americans were still open! Halibut Fish and Chips were phenomenal! Customer service from Elizabeth and her team was spectacular! If you visit Whittier, give these folks your business! You will not be disappointed!

The fish and chips is something special. Halibut is on the thinner end but the batter is something unique.

Breakfast platter was done well but if there was reindeer in the sausage, I didn't taste it one bit.

Annoyed with 1 staff that didn't tell us to wait 15 minutes before the full menu was open. Staff and owner were apologetic so that was alright.

I still feel the food is over priced but because the dishes are done well/unique, this place still gets a pass. It was a rainy day and this was a good hideout spot.

Lovely place! I went there on Tuesday. I heard their salmon burger was a gem so I had to try it. Man, it did not disappoint me. They charged me $29 though, not the price on the menu. They claimed they used higher quality salmon. I don’t know what they normally use but the salmon I got on that day was great. My husband got a burger; he also loved it. Their buns were nice and soft.
Ps. Salmon burger normally comes with pickles but I asked them to not add them

Cute, quaint cafe-style restaurant. We came for brunch. The food was good. We tried reindeer sausage and the three meat omelet.
Took off a star because it was confusing to know where to order and where to sit. There’s seating in the back, but no signs for how to get there. Also, the only menu was written up on a chalkboard. It would be nice to have a menu with descriptions of each food (for example, what is in the three-meat omelet).

Hidden Gem in Whittier

I’d heard this place had the best deep-fried halibut around—and living in Anchorage, where great halibut is easy to find, that’s saying something. But my source was absolutely right—it was by far the best deep-fried halibut I’ve ever had. We also tried the clam chowder and reindeer chili, and both were excellent.

The atmosphere was charming, and we made a day trip from Anchorage to Whittier just to enjoy lunch and take in the beautiful scenery. I highly recommend this restaurant—but a quick tip: we intentionally went on a day when no cruise ships were in port, which made for a much more relaxed experience. That could make all the difference!
