I’m going to give this place my honest and transparent review.
For starters, Some of the very best service I’ve had in a really long time. So kind and attentive. Offering the best options and grateful for any feedback.
The food was fantastic. Hands down some of the best fried tomatoes out there. Give them a shot. They are lightly breaded BUT with the seasoning they use, you don’t actually need much breading and the breading has a fantastic crunch. But not the tomato’s. They are perfecting cooked. Not too fleshy but not to soft either.
I was also quite surprised at how good the blackened shrimp was. I don’t know what I was expecting, but it wasn’t that. It was spectacular. The shrimp were way bigger than expected and seasoned to perfection, and you get plenty. I paired the blackened shrimp with the grilled veggies, and you cannot go wrong with them. Also perfectly seasoned but not over cooked to where they have no bite.
Then the macaroni.

I have no ideas how many cheeses they have in that heavenly Mac. It’s beautiful with the spiral noodles and then the FLAVOR. it’ll smack you right in the face. It’s PHENOMENAL. I will be back. I give this place my best 10/10 rating.
Will lightly touch on the sweet tea being perfect and the cheese cake being out of this world also.

We stopped at this diner on our way home from Destin, FL. I was very dissatisfied with the food in Destin and wanted a really good meal before returning home to Virginia. BJ’s diner is HANDS DOWN the best place to eat. I had the fried catfish and shrimp combo w/ Mac n cheese, collard greens. My fiancé had blackened catfish, fried green tomatoes. We also had homemade cornbread that literally melted in your mouth, no need to put butter on it. Everything we ordered was perfect, D E L I C I O U S!! And the staff was amazing, very attentive and treated us as if we were regulars. The chef gave us some (homemade) banana pudding to go! They also gave us a sample of grilled squash and zucchini. I usually eat small portioned meals. Not this time, I had to finish my meal because it was so good!! To the staff at BJ’s Diner, y’all definitely have a good thing going in Ashville, AL. And thank you so much for providing delicious food that makes you want more!!

My husband,my 16 year old grandson & I went there tonight for my birthday dinner with my son & his wife & 3 kids. We got 2 of the largest crab seafood boil meals, 4 appetizers (hush puppies,Jaleopeano poppers, onion rings, fried mushrooms), a cheeseburger & fries, a quarter pounder & fries, a kids chicken fingers & fries.We shared all the food and it was Great! The waitress was outstanding! She kept our glasses full & tended to our every need. This is my favorite place to go eat & I believe it is my son & daughter in laws favorite place now too! Love this place!
We got the Big Mouf boil. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! The best boil we have ever had!! We couldn’t pass up the banana pudding but we had to get it to go because we were so full. Staff is awesome too. Soooo sweet and helpful. We will be back & next time we are bringing friends with us!!!!

My dad and I were on the way home from Gadsden and found this place by accident and man how lucky were we. Hands down the best cheeseburger I’ve ever had in my 31 years, no comparison. Fried okra was the best I’ve ever had as well. Everything was unbelievable (and they’re not shy about the serving sizes, bring your appetite). Everyone that works there is so genuinely nice, it feels like eating at your grandmothers house.
Very happy that we stumbled upon this hidden gem, we will be driving back from Birmingham very soon to eat.
