Worst seafood I have ever put in my mouth. Won't be back!!

A true hole in the wall wonders. Don’t let the outside deter you. The fried shrimp, crabcakes, catfish were all exactly what you expect to get from a seafood restaurant. The batter was just right. We will be back. Great price, friendly service.

Food was ok, the restaurant inside needs work. Harsh flourescent style lighting; I felt like I was eating at a hardware store and it was smoky from the kitchen. Owner should spend a few $$ and put in some nicer lights, make the place feel more like a restaurant. May or may not return.

We had heard so much about this place! I love the old dusty decorations and the feel. The people were welcoming and had the hometown feel. When we first sat I was excited, the app. came out and was a little greasier and darker than I thought it should be but I was there for the experience Id heard about. As we were waiting for our main dishes the owner came over and introduced herself. Smiling and giddy she smelled like she had drank a beer or so. Small town, hard work I shrugged it off. I told her our story, out of towners that fell in love with the island that we visit way too often not to have a home in town and she congratulated us. We told her we’d heard wonderful things. She went on to let us know that her place was the best and oldest in town. She told us how the restaurant had been on a well know morning show! Then I was upgraded to thrilled about the food that was coming my way!!!
She showed us the video from the show. She walked away and our food arrived I asked for a carry out box. I dumped it in the trash can at the front door on the way out. My husband was clueless as to WHY I wouldn’t let him eat there. I showed him the video and pointed out detail. He was green around the gills. There is no reason a restaurant kitchen in that state should have appeared on national television and the owner be thrilled about it. Simply foul.
5 stars was for all the smiling faces and friendly servers.

First time that I've been to the Catalina that I didn't enjoy my meal. Food seemed like it had been re-heated. An employee kept talking about how they had a busy day catering an event. I think their costs were being re-cooped by passing it on to the dinners. The hushpuppies were twice fried and so soggy with oil they couldn't be eaten. The breading on the shrimp was barely hanging on. The baked potato even tasted like a left over. The only thing that tasted good was the crab cake. I've never had this experience there before. Let's hope it was a one off.

We hear about this place through mutual friends who also frequent Dauphin Island every year. He ordered the softshell crab, BLT, baked potato, sweet potato, popcorn, shrimp, and fries for the little one, grouper with dressing, onion rings, and softshell crab claws. All in all the food was pretty good. The soft shell crab BLT was pretty creative and tasty. We wouldn’t order the dressing again for the fish, it was $10 for a half dollar sized amount. Staff was friendly, nice environment for kids. The sweet potato was surprisingly pretty delish. Would go back again.

Ordered the seafood platter of a variety shrimp,oysters,catfish,crab cake,and crab claws and includes fries.
Waitress brings our platter says no catfish today they gave you extra of the other items. Not sure what extra we got.$29.99 for this platter it was worth $12.99.
Bathroom was gross
Mens bath no paper towels.

We had a large party. The food came out in shifts. Some people at our table were done and some hadn’t been served. The food was terrible and expensive. Never again.

Love the place. Lots of parking and the service was impeccable. Ms Janice was fantastic! Food was just alright to me, but I could have just ordered the wrong stuff. I'd go back and try again.
