This place is historic. I've been eating here ever since I was a kid. I live in Jasper, but will drive out to carbon Hill just to get a ham and cheese. I would crawl over glass for their ham and cheese. The pizza is good, but the ham and cheese is god tier.
Haven't made the trip in several years. Rumor was that the ham and cheese was changed & wasn't as good as the old days. I was pleasantly surprised. The infamous Ham Sandwich has changed slightly but was still fantastic. While the writing on the walls might seem janky, the restaurant looked nice and clean. I will return for a pizza next time!
Uninspiring place despite its rave reviews here with locals fawning over what I would classify as overpirced (almost $30 for a mini-pizza, ham & cheese sammich + 2 drinks?) mediocre food in a small-town quaint, yet dingy, atmosphere. Staff was friendly, service was quick, but experience failed to live up to the hype of me driving 20 miles "to see what it's all about".
