The service was great. The food- not so much. But maybe the cook was having a bad day. Don't order waffles.

I like Waffle House. Our server was great. I was with a friend that had not had Waffle House in a long time, so this friend was looking forward to eating. His steak was over cooked. His eggs were runny. I went to eat my eggs, and I ordered over medium. They were not even cooked at all in the middle
Supposedly they took my eggs and my friends steak off of the bill. They took 2$ off the bill. We won't be back any time soon.

Brothers and sisters, let me testify. On the evening of 8pm sharp, I pulled my weary chariot off the highway and entered into the holiest of greasy spoons: the Waffle House of Clanton, Alabama. And I declare unto you—it was the Waffliest Waffle House I’ve ever Waffled in.

The moment I stepped through those doors, I was greeted by a young lady so sweet and respectful she could’ve been handing out hymnals at the door of a country church. I took my seat at the counter, and before me stood a young man, baptizing dishes in soapy water with the devotion of a monk illuminating scrolls.

The waffle? Golden as the streets of heaven.
The coffee? Strong enough to raise the dead.
The soda? Carbonated like the Spirit itself.

But then, brethren… came the grits. Oh, the grits. A bowl of plain, ordinary grits, and atop them, laid not a blend, not a melt, not even a sprinkle—but a single slice of American cheese, just flopped there like it had fainted in the Spirit. And I tell you, it was so glorious, so divine in its comedy, I had to stop and take a picture. Yes sir, I documented the miracle.

So if ever your soul is weary and your stomach is empty, make the pilgrimage to Clanton’s Waffle House. Come for the waffle, stay for the cheese slice, and leave with a story worth preaching. Five stars, hallelujah.
