Placed our order of 2 iced coffees and a blueberry bagel. Received the coffees within 10 minutes but waited 20 for the bagel, my wife walked up to the counter and asked Anna where our bagel was and Anna caught an attitude and said, “he’s still working on it”. Working on what? Putting 2 pieces of bread in a toaster and plating it? He made 7 other food orders (both ordered before and after us) while I was waiting for my bagel, most of those were more complex and harder to make. So we waited another 20 minutes before walking up to the register to ask for a refund. Anna tried to get the cook to rush the bagel but at that time I didn’t even want it anymore. My coffee was already gone and I was over it. She didn’t even acknowledge us standing there, the other woman behind the counter assisted us with our refund. Unless the cook was back there hand picking the blueberries off the plant and kneading the dough from scratch, there is no reason we should’ve waited 40 minutes for a simple blueberry bagel.

The service and atmosphere was GREAT! The coffee was delicious! The food was good just not quite a good enough portion for cost. My bagel breakfast sandwich came with one small strip of bacon split in half, so 2 small pieces for the whole sandwich. But it did taste good, just not enough bacon lol. It was 3 friends and I with our kiddos and the employees were great and so nice to all of us!

Cozy place and friendly people. The honey almond latte was delicious & my toddler had a great time at their princess party. I love that they do little events like that for the kids.

i came here for the first time last week. the staff was not very welcoming, and there were children loudly running and stomping around.
my hot latte was warm at best and had no sweetness to it at all. even when i asked for more sugar, it tasted bad. i also ordered a grilled cheese with sun dried tomatoes. it was mediocre at best.
i wanted to enjoy it here. there are not many sit down, cafe style coffee shops in decatur. however, i wasn’t even able to read in there because it was too noisy and distracting even with my headphones on.

They need to pay more attention in cleaning the place.

Very disappointed. My first visit to Highpoint was early 2025 and I had a great experience. When I went back in December, I was very dissatisfied. The coffee had no flavor and the food was lackluster. I decided to give it another shot the next month and it was even worse. There was only one worker who said he couldn’t even make coffee. When he tried, it was extremely watery and poor quality. He attempted to make it again with the same result. When I asked for a refund, he said he wasn’t sure how to do that and offered to Cashapp me from his personal account. He said someone else was supposed to come in at 8:30, but if the hours begin at 7, someone who can make coffee at a coffee shop should be there when the shop opens. They also have a very loud tv playing which makes it difficult to spend more than a couple minutes doing work or even talking. I am very sad about the decline of the shop and will not be back. Do not recommend.

Ran out of silverware. Begal served with cream cheese no knife. Panini served with cooked lettuce and tomato? French toast served with Chex cereal atop but had syrup poured over. Soggy. Good for cafe’ nothing more. Manager/Owner took photo of my plate before being served.

Great shop! The barista asked me to check my drink to be sure it was sweet enough. They adjusted it for me, and I love that! It's a great little spot to catch a warm drink and a cozy place to read a book. Lots of natural lighting. Comfy chairs and couches. Great staff!

The first “coffee” I received was just steamed milk and some peppermint syrup without coffee. When I asked them if they put coffee in there they hadnt and made an espresso shot and proceeded to just pour it on top of the steamed milk and syrup and stirred. They handed it back to me and it was cold and bitter. They have no coffee sleeves so they cut up a bag and slid my cup in there. They grabbed the owner and he said he could make it and when they handed me another cup it was still incredibly bitter and tasteless. This is not the high quality coffee and experience that those who have been faithful to the original high point are. They need to rebrand because it’s deceptive to those who have been loyal customers for years.

Today was my first time visiting the shop. THE BEST LITTLE COFFEE GEM! I got a blueberry bagel with cream cheese. A bagel is a bagel but it was delicious. The barista is amazing and very friendly. Nice, knowledgeable, and helpful…but let me tell you about the lemonade!!!!! ITS THE BEST LEMONADE IVE EVER TASTED. No jokes. Quaint little shop downtown Decatur you won’t be sorry you visited, ask for Nettie!

I used to go to this coffee shop for years because the previous management and baristas made the place exceptional. They were warm, kind, and deeply knowledgeable. They roasted great beans and consistently produced the best drinks around. They were the reason this shop stood above the rest. Everything in this review comes from my own visits and observations as a long-time customer.
The shop changed owners not too long ago, and the decline was immediate. The previous owners had their problems, but the new ones somehow managed to take every weakness and multiply it. Their kids ran around the place with no sense of boundaries or personal space. At one point I watched a kid destroying tables and chairs while trying to open a bottle of Coke without a bottle opener. No one noticed or cared.
Last time I went in, none of the old management or baristas were there. All the skilled staff I’d known for years had been replaced by a whole new lineup who clearly have no idea how to run a coffee shop. I ordered what I was told was Guatemalan drip and was handed a weak, lifeless cup poured from the green pot (which is the decaf pot). I ordered what they offered and I received what they handed me, nothing more complicated than that.
The new owners attempted a rebrand and lost everything that once gave the place value. I watched on Facebook as they changed their logo to “HPV Roasters” instead of “HPM Roasters.” Nothing says attention to detail like accidentally branding your coffee company after a widely known medical acronym.
The whole thing feels like a joke. Their posts online read like generic AI slop. It’s blindingly obvious to me that they asked some chatbot how to “maximize profits,” and they’re naively following every bit of that soulless advice.
They dumped the skilled workers who actually knew what they were doing, hired friends and relatives instead, destroyed the original vibe, and are now coasting on the reputation the old team built. I’m sure the chatbot would suggest they extend the hours and start selling alcohol. Do not be surprised if they do.
What frustrates me most is that this new group gets to sit on top of hundreds of positive reviews that the previous staff earned with years of hard work. The current reality has nothing to do with that inherited reputation. Anyone walking in today based on those reviews is being completely misled.

This used to be my favorite coffee shop. I have been a regular customer for many years, and I previously gave it a five-star rating. But my most recent visit was sadly disappointing. They were not exceptionally busy, but it took 40 minutes to get my coffee. And when I finally got my order there was a problem with it. The employees were not rude, and they weren't goofing off. They just seemed very disorganized and were incredibly slow. The service was frustrating and the coffee wasn't nearly as good as it used to be. Normally I might write this off as one bad day at a good coffee shop. But it's my understanding that the ownership/management has recently changed, so I fear this might be the new normal. If I return and see things are good again I will happily revise this review.

New ownership has run this business into the ground in record time. It takes a particular kind of negligence to absolutely ruin a flourishing business that quickly and run off the ENTIRE staff (who were fantastic AND knowledgeable, by the way). It was great while it lasted.
PS. All the AI generated ads & media look cheap and trashy. Do better.

Having previously enjoyed visits to Highpoint, I was looking forward to another delightful experience with their new hours and expanded menu options. Unfortunately, today's visit fell short of the standards I have come to expect from this establishment.
The service was notably poor. The cashier was distracted, absorbed in her phone, texting, and didn’t even glance up as we placed our order. This inattentiveness led to us having to repeat our order multiple times, which was both frustrating and unprofessional.
The coffee, which is usually a highlight, was disappointing. I ordered a butter pecan latte; however, it tasted overwhelmingly like plain milk and poorly brewed coffee—bitter and lacking the distinctive butter pecan taste. The coffee was not dialed in like I normally experience from the shop.
As for the food, the chicken and waffles were just okay. There was no effort in presentation, and the dish did not justify its price.
Overall, today's experience was underwhelming, and I hope this was an isolated incident. I'm hoping for a return to the exceptional service and quality I have previously experienced.
