Been frequenting Green Top as long as I can remember. Food is fantastic and if it isn't they'll make it right for you. Service from the waitresses is always a great experience as well as whoever runs the register. Will go to Green Top until they get sick of me or shut it down. As far as have to try. Their smoked wings with custom sauce. And the homemade chips or french fries with homemade ranch are a go to. If you like vinegar based sauces then Green Top is for you. However, bbq comes chopped unless you ask for pulled so make note of that. Baked beans are top notch too. You could probably order something different every time and it'd be good. I've had little to no bad experiences. They are a little pricey but it's not cookie cutter cheap ole out of a can food.
I used to love Green Top. Not sure what happened, but food quality has gone way down and portion size is laughable. I had more bbq sauce on my plate than bbq. I was very disappointed.

I'll be honest here. I've probably eaten BBQ in over 30 states and have tasted good and terrible BBQ. This place has always been in this area since I was a child and I've watched it develop into what it's become. Now that being said it is absolutely the worst BBQ I've ever eaten in my entire life. I swear people in the area must not have a taste bud 1 in their head. The pulled pork had the consistency of bacon bits and the sauce taste like it was made in a dumpster. I wouldn't recommend this place to a convict on death row. These people should literally shut down and take a bit to regroup and explore a better avenue of recipes and find a better cook or method in making BBQ.

Best BBQ in Alabama IMO! Try a stuffed potato outside chop add bacon!! Best BBQ potato you'll ever eat! Don't forget to ask for outside chop!! You get the charred parts and it is amazing! If you're not in the mood for BBQ get a cheeseburger it's huge, and delicious!!! Highly recommend this place! They are in a small location...because the original was gutted by fire,but they are working to rebuild it!!
First time eating there we really enjoyed it the staff was so nice food was really good.

Pleased as a first-time out-of-towner customer seeking out Mom-n-Pop eateries. This placed delived on its promise: food was delicious and piping hot, although at $18+ for a BBQ plate (2 small sides) + sweet tea, not cheap by any means. Still. Friendliest service I ever did see, and that's no lie. Smack dab at lunch hour yet was fast and quick. Nice local's spot. Did this used to be a stand-alone joint vs. in a strip mall? That would've been even better, IMO. Will return for sure and would gladly bring others.
