A quaint little restaurant with a small bar. Very nice atmosphere with tropical decor. The owner was very friendly and helpful. We ordered the special which was grilled Grouper. It came with veggies and saffron rice topped with beans. The dish looked wonderful, everything was prepared well and it was a very tasty meal. For dessert we had the Key Lime Pie. The portion was small but it was delicious. This is a nice place for date night or for a family meal. I recommend trying it out, I would eat here again.
Local favorite of ours. Always good fresh food and smiles.
Tucked away in the corner of a strip mall near the Glen Lakes subdivision off County Road 20, Calypso is a family-run Caribbean restaurant with a small but focused menu and a very casual atmosphere.Everything I’ve sampled here so far has been really good. The Cuban pork is outstanding, tender and juicy with a nice seasoning. The saffron rice and black beans were a great side, too. A recurring problem with rice as a side down here is restaurants tend to either overcook it or let it sit so it gets dry and hard. This was clearly rice made in a small batch to order because it was just right. Ditto the beans, which our server explained are cooked fresh daily from actual dried beans, nothing from a can or frozen. That fresh-never-frozen flavor is also evident in things like the lime sour cream topping, the sautéed vegetables and even the fried fish fingers and tartar sauce! And while I almost never get dessert at a restaurant, I had to try the funnel cake because FUNNEL CAKE, yo. It did not disappoint, and was big enough to be shared with everyone at the table. Every bit as good as one at a fair or festival!Prices are about average for the area; portions seem to be a bit more small (translation: normal for the rest of the planet) but what they lack in quantity, they more than make up for in quality. While it is a tiny place off the beaten path (relatively speaking), with a limited menu, it’s definitely going into my regular rotation. It was a total (pleasant) surprise.
Had the Persian chicken, very good.
Amazing in every way! I had tuna and my wife had crabcakes and both were fantastic.
Delicious food and friendly staff/owners
Always a must when we are in town! Service and food are always great!
My gosh what a great place and super staff! Food was amazing.
We ate at the Calypso Bar and Grill on Highway 20, near the junction with Beach Express. We were very pleased with the meals we had and the cheery atmosphere and the friendliness of the owners. Leslie had the Cuban sandwich which had sliced ham, roasted Pork, swiss cheese, pickles and mustard in Cuban bread. She loved it and said it was delicious and would have again!Bob had the Calypso Burger ground chuck with cheddar cheese and lettuce tomato and onion. He loved the Cuban taste it had and will have again! We definitely recommend them.Bob and Leslie Patterson
Wonderful food and even better owners. The fish fingers and chicken fingers were hand battered and fried fresh.

Really great place - food was outstanding and service was very very good. Best lamb kabobs I’ve ever had!
excellent food and service, everything is fresh and hand breaded and you can really taste the difference. Definitely a cut above your typical highly processed chain restaurant food. Its real healthy food..
Calypso's fed us like royalty...the service was so special we felt like we belonged there like family from the moment we arrived! We ordered the mixed kabob grill and the Persian chicken platters. Ohhh and don't forget to order a side of their slaw...you never had it so good!
Aren’t these the same owners who ran Calypso Joe’s and Mango’s into the ground?Get outta here, we don’t want this garbage.
Very shady. Food is bland and service very slow.I will be going to Paula Deen’s restaurant instead.
