First I would like to say the service was great. I have no complaints, our waitress was very kind and apologetic for any mistakes. We were sat in a front room with a large window and it was super uncomfortably hot. I’m the type of person who wears a sweater everywhere because I run cold, but even in a dress I was sweating. We ordered off of their brunch menu and got a couple coffees and waters. The coffee we were served was lukewarm at best. The waitress apologized and served us fresh hot coffee after that which I really appreciated. The food was truly okay, but nothing really stood out to be special. My son ordered the Oreo pancakes and the menu said it came with chocolate syrup and whipped cream. Well, it did not have those items when it was brought out. He was served Oreo pancakes with a condiment cup of regular syrup. He was so excited to try something different so before I could correct the situation he dumped the syrup on the pancakes. He may have eaten half of one of the three pancakes before he was finished. My husband ordered an omelette with grits and he was pleased with his food, but he’s not very hard to please either. Either way we love supporting local businesses but I don’t think we’d return. Would like to add I felt the pricing was very fair.

Edit: My husband went and posted a review on their Facebook page, and someone affiliated with the restaurant went and looked on my husband’s Facebook page and saw where he worked. She then went on and reviewed my husband on his employer’s Facebook page and called my husband a scammer. The business page has blocked me and my husband, and the woman that reviewed my husband said her Facebook was “cloned” and it was not her that left that review on my husband. I don’t believe it for one second. I made sure it was not a duplicate page. I have never seen a business act so unprofessional in my life.

Edit #2 in response to owner: We were not given a refill and no you do not have footage. We were not given any refills during our visit. You also did not respond to the Facebook incident of someone going to my husband’s employer’s Facebook page and calling him out calling him a scammer. If you are going to lie and say you have footage and go out of your way to do what was done on Facebook, I have no doubt you are also lying about your eggs.

Edit #3: After doing a quick Google search of the woman that went and made retaliation review of my husband on his employer’s work Facebook page, it was the actual owner of this restaurant, Heather Mindell. When I confronted her on Facebook messenger, she said she had no idea what I was talking about and her Facebook had been “cloned” which is a lie. I called to speak to the manager of this restaurant, and she told me she didn’t have any idea who Heather Mindell was. Something is seriously wrong with the people that run this place and work there.

Original Review: My husband and I were sat at a table a few minutes after we arrived, but once we sat down we waited about 10 minutes for someone to come to our table because the waitress didn’t even know she was supposed to be taking care of us. People were sat after us and got their order taken before us. The employees just seemed unorganized and all over the place. We finally ordered and waited a little over an hour for our food. We were barely checked on the entire time and not even given a refill even though it was obvious our drinks were low. My husband had to get up and get straws even though he asked. My husband and I ordered food items that included eggs. I couldn’t even finish my scrambled eggs because they were obviously powdered eggs. We asked and were told they were not powdered. The consistency was not of a real egg. My husband has eaten powdered eggs several times and could immediately tell. I’ve eaten real eggs enough to know the consistency was not a real egg. I went to the bathroom and when I went to wash my hands, the soap dispenser wasn’t working. They had a bottle of soap, but it was almost empty to the point where I couldn’t even pump it out. I had to open the bottle and pour a little bit of soap on my hands to wash them. We do not recommend coming here. We will never be back.

While on vacation, brought in a group of 8 for lunch and everyone loved their meal. Friendly staff welcomed us with a smile. Lovely chat with the owner who came out personally. Game room in the back perfectly entertained our kids. As a military family, so thrilled to see the wall that honors servicemen and first responders. Super fan of the Bushwacker frappe! Bought freshly roasted coffee to take home after learning, they roast their own coffee beans!! How cool is that?! No basic restaurant supply coffee here. It has been a delicious reminder of our beach week in Alabama. Definitely going to make this a permanent stop on our future trips to Alabama.

I don't enjoy putting meh reviews, but I have to say it like it is. This is the first time we tried this place. First off, the food was great. 5 stars for the taste of the food. No complaints. We were lucky and found parking right away on the street, but we must have just missed a large crowd, There were a bunch of tables not cleared off and sat like that for a while. I went to the buffet to see what was there and it was cleaned out. We decided not to get the buffet. Instead we ordered the Farmers Scramble with a side pancake and bacon and also a BLT with egg. We enjoyed the food very much. It took a little bit to be sat at a table, and there were empty tables here and there. Unfortunately, the table and chairs were both very sticky, and the hostess just wiped it off in front of us. My wife said the single bathroom was not clean. She was not impressed with the lack of bathroom maintenance. It doesn't make us want to come back very soon. Lastly, I know they were slammed and down a waitress, but still.....we had to wait 20 minutes to get helped, probably 45 minutes to get food, another 15-20 minutes to get our check once we were done. Not ideal. So, if you want a pretty neat environment and tasty food, this is a good place to go. That's our experience.

I love having breakfast or brunch at Southern Shores whether it’s their buffet or if I order off the menu it’s always good. I have a weakness for the Bushwacker frappe! And they roast their own coffee! The staff are always efficient and friendly. The restaurant is always clean. I also like Scallywag‘s pizza it’s nice to be able to buy pizza by the slice for lunch that is handmade right there. Scallywags is also great for dinner, i’ve had their wings and their pizza and hamburgers, just to name a few and I’ve never been disappointed

No changing table for children, talked to the owner and she stated it needs to be wheelchair accessible which I agree, but if you have a family friendly restaurant it has to be family friendly as well. After that the OWNER was talking to her employees how i was complaining about the place not having a changing table where i could clearly hear her. Bad business for sure.

Shannon Kish McElroy

Not family friendly as they have no changing tables. They did say that they had to be wheelchair accessible though. Then, the owner talked bad about a customer within earshot because they asked about a changing table for a baby. Not impressed with this place or the staff. Our server was good, but otherwise save your money and time. I posted a review on FB and the owner responded see photos below. None of what she claimed happened. Our server's daughter is the hostess. Claimed that there was a HUGE mess and posted a photo of the mess but conveniently moved the highchair that sat the 10 month old baby. We profusely apologized for the mess and generously tipped our server. Owner seems to love to defend her actions with lies and then gets mad when you call her out on the lies (as I did on FB) and then blocks you.
