This was my first time catering, visiting Ms. J’s restaurant and the entire organization was very please and took home seconds! Everything was amazing! Ms. J went over and beyond. Highly recommended people!
Great food and an amazing lady
Fantastic food. Great portion size. Had catfish, cabbage greens, and fried okra. Everything was delicious.
Great food ! , great owner !
Well kept building , clean, nothing high end fancy.
Go out of your way to eat here !
Absolutely delicious, fresh authentic soul food and huge portions every time. Miss Jeanette is such a kind person as well, this is a small business that deserves all the support!
There was a sign apologizing in advance for the wait but that they were short on help.
Keeping that in mind, the service was fairly quick (10-15 min. wait for food).
This is not the type of sit-down restaurant where the waitress comes to your table. More of a take-out style where you go to the counter to order your food and wait for your order to get called out.
Space is very limited in there. There are about 4 booths that you could sit and eat at but the flies were pretty bad.
We did not like the Catfish bc it had a very fishy taste and it did not sit well with us. The fries were good and well-seasoned. Fried okra and cornbread were tasty. The greens were good but very salty towards the end of eating them.
Meals were ~$15 for 1 entree, 2 sides, and cornbread.
Good Lord this meal was so delicious and beautiful atmosphere and friendly service
Loved the atmosphere. The staff was WONDERFUL. My cheeseburger was not that good. I should have went with a meat and three I think.
My family and I ate here for the first time today. It was hands down the best soul food in rural Alabama! I had the fried pork chops, collard greens, pinto beans, cornbread and a slice of cream cheese cake! The hostess was welcoming with the most friendliest southern smile! I also got to meet THE CHEF, MS. J! She was so polite and after having a conversation with her and eating the FOOD, she TAKES PRIDE AND COMPASSION IN THE CRAFT OF MAKING FOOD FOR THE SOUL! It was a DELIGHT to get the opportunity to sit down in a cozy little restaurant not far from home after church. Thank you!!!!!!
Great food, a must if you like to eat! The best catfish I've eaten in years.
Restaurantji Recommends
best food I've ate in a long time at a price that can't be beat
I ordered 3 large pans of food for our Thanksgiving dinner. Everything tastes fantastic and the prices were very fair. I would recommend Ms. J’s to anyone who needs catering or to visit her restaurant for lunch.
Wasn't actually here ,,, I was just using their parking lot
Ms. Jay’s I mean momma jay’s is 100% the restaurant you must visit. The atmosphere is so warming. Please be patient as this is a small family business “for now”. She makes sure your plate ?️ is nice and full and neat. I would highly recommend you to go.
Kid-friendliness: It’s all about family, even if we don’t have the kids with us she asks about him. ?
