I met a man and his son at a church in Jacksonville, AL, a couple weeks back. He asked if we had ever eaten there and I said, never knew it was there. Their sign out front isn't that big, so if you're passing thru, you will definitely miss it. This is an ole country style way of cooking. They had dressing, with giblet gravy (outstanding), fried fish and fried chicken, turnip greens, rolls and cornbread, peas, mashed taters and gravy, 2 or 3 other veggies, 2 or 3 desserts and other items. Their buffet was only $12 per person, no tax. They're only open Mon - Fri, from 1100 till 1400 hours. A hidden gem, most definitely. It's across from Northeast Alabama Community College, AL-35.

The food was great. I love the fish coconut pudding and corn was my favorite. Everything was delicious. You need to try it. The price was great too!

Looks can absolutely be deceiving. As you enter Sweet Home Cafe, the sight of a small Southern hole-in-the-wall meets your eyes. A fancy interior is nowhere to be found, as the restaurant’s last redesign was in the early 1980s. But alas, this establishment is the definition of hospitality. The dishes on the buffet are packed with flavor and charm, while the desserts are downright delicious. I would not pass up an opportunity to try the red velvet cake or the pineapple pudding, which are both divine. I encourage the reader of this review to drive, whatever the distance, to this quaint cafe immediately. Verdict: Come as fast as you can.

Sweet Home Cafe is a delightful restaurant that specializes in serving delicious home-style country food. With an extensive buffet offering plenty of selections, this place is a haven for food enthusiasts. The standout feature of the restaurant is its incredibly friendly staff, who greet you with warm southern hospitality. Their welcoming and attentive nature truly enhances the dining experience. One of the biggest advantages of dining at Sweet Home Cafe is its reasonable prices. The quality and quantity of the food make it well worth every penny. Guests can expect to enjoy a satisfying and fulfilling meal without breaking the bank. The atmosphere of the restaurant is reminiscent of old-style cafeterias, adding to its nostalgic charm. However, it's important to note that the building itself appears a little dated and run-down. This aging and questionable condition of the building may give some patrons doubts about the cleanliness of the place. It's understandable to have concerns in this regard, as the building's age doesn't necessarily reflect the establishment's cleanliness standards. In summary, Sweet Home Cafe offers exceptional home-style country food with a wide range of choices on the buffet. The friendly and hospitable staff provide a warm and inviting experience. Although the restaurant may have a dated and slightly run-down appearance, it's important to remember that cleanliness can still be maintained, regardless of the building's condition.
