BBQ 65 is in the Shell Station @ 65 & Pine Apple. The smoker is on the back side. The smoke in the air is always great when they are burning wood. I prefer the Smoked Turkey. I buy it by the pound and share it with friends. Their hours are limited so check them.

One of many popular BBQ joints in Alabama that's been on my short list for a visit. I stopped on a drive back north and was glad they were open on a Sunday morning. I wasn't going to make the same mistake twice and decided not to hold back on my order. This may be my last chance at real BBQ for awhile. Located in a gas station just off of I-65, I could see and smell the smoke after parking. It was late morning when I arrived and no line. I ordered the 4 rib plate with mac n cheese and peach cobbler, plus 2 pulled pork and a sausage sandwich for the road. I took my haul outside and ate at one of several picnic tables they have scattered outside. The ribs were tender and slightly smokey, and I enjoyed how the BBQ sauce didn't really add any flavor of its own, but somehow enhanced the flavor of the BBQ. Not just on the ribs, but the sandwiches as well. The Mac was good, but the peach cobbler was a little disappointing. The flavor was on point, but I got way more cobbler than peach. The sandwiches were equally as good as the ribs, a little more smokey though. The sausage was good, but wanted more than what was on the sandwich. Not an issue with the pulled pork that was also delicious. You might what to get extra pickles, plus neither had cole slaw. Woofed them all down on my long drive back to Michigan. They packed my togo order with plenty of BBQ sauce, napkins and utensils. They also have indoor seating, plus gas station convenience items. Bonus I filled up on their cheap gas and I appreciated their lot being big enough to park a 10ft truck and a 8ft trailer and not have to embarrass myself backing up.

Are you homesick for some southern home cooking? Look no further. We found this place on a road trip while searching for local places open on Sundays. We absolutely loved the pulled pork, turnip greens, and loaded baked potato casserole. The ladies were very friendly and I felt like this is exactly the dinner I'd be served at their home after Sunday church service. 😊 AND the AC was kicking on this hot day!

Food is always delicious. We stop here every time we drive home from the beach. Everything is so well seasoned and the cobblers are absolutely worth the extra calories. No pic because I gobbled it down before I thought about it.

The perfect little hole in the wall BBQ joint. I had combo plate with pork and turkey. Meal was excellent. Probably the best smoked turkey I have eaten (and I cook a wicked smoked turkey). Will definitely be back.

The blackberry cobbler was the star of the show and they served a lot of it...as a side! The mac n cheese was baked, rich, and hearty. The pork was best with sauce, which was in a giant bottle on the table. There was some neat decor but it is a little odd dining in a gas station. Don't let that stop you or you'll miss out on some fabulous food.

I can't speak for the food, the restaurant was closed at 7 pm. I got gas and used the bathroom and no paper towels in either bathroom. The attendant came out the bathroom as we were walking in but her she hadn't washed her hands. Guess she would know the bathroom was out of paper towels if she had. The blow drier wasn't working in the mens room. Only one stall locks in the ladies room. The place was clean though.

Right off I85, inside the gas station... Simple menu, fair prices. Had a pulled pork sandwich for just over $6, excellent sandwich. Can sit inside or at picnic tables outside. Just a few minutes wait on the food. Definitely recommend! 👍🏻

The BBQ pork sandwich was loaded down with meat and was very good. The sides were also very tasty. We knew if was real BBQ when we pulled in because we saw smoke coming out of the smoker and the wood pile. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We really liked the casual, family atmosphere . It's not a fancy place, but that's a big part of its charm. Highly recommended!
