Freight House Restaurant

The food was delicious. Absolutely try the fried green tomatoes. We went Friday night at dinner and there was a gentleman playing contemporary covers with his violin. Roxy was our server and she was so friendly. This place is a hidden gem!

My parents and sister and I stopped to eat at the Freight House Restaurant in Downtown Hartselle for the first time ever and that was on Saturday April 12 2025 of this year and this was also the first time we had ever been through Downtown Hartselle especially since we’ve always been on the I-65 part of the city so this was not only nice for a change but everyone at the Freight House Restaurant was so friendly and welcoming and so kind and the food was so great and what was even better was being able to see the CSXT trains go by and we saw 5 trains go by while we were there. Most of the trains we saw were when we were inside the restaurant and the rest of them were when we were outside the restaurant and it was very nice for a change and we’re looking forward to going there again in the future the next time we travel! And if you’re in the Hartselle area or anywhere in Morgan County and you’re either traveling down I-65 going to Nashville or Birmingham or going down US Highway 31 I highly recommend you stop at the Freight House Restaurant in Downtown Hartselle! It is the best restaurant in town!

We stopped by here for something “different” on the way from Hunstville for a dance competition. Excellent food, friendly staff, and wonderful service!! We will definitely be back when we are around the area!

Went here for a surprise 80th birthday gig for my husband’s uncle. This place was fantastic. A unique, fancy dining experience and the food was awesome! Highly recommend.

The best ribeye I have had in a long while. It was perfectly cooked to medium rare. Baked potatoes are so soft and fluffy and the skin is salted and crunchy.

This is a hidden gem & well worth the drive from Huntsville. The restaurant is in an old train depot. It is nice reading about the history of the depot. The food is 100% Southern comfort food and is SO GOOD. Our waitress was precious, friendly & attentive. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

I was one of a group of 10 that went for lunch at Freight House Restaurant and it was my first time there. The menu is very diverse. Most anyone could find something they can eat. Everyone at our table had different menu items and we thoroughly enjoyed our food. The service was great, and has a very nice atmosphere. The restaurant is situated just off the railroad tracks which was a great addition to the atmosphere. Even though we had a large group our food was served in a reasonable amount of time. Many people had dessert, a slice of their homemade cakes and some took slices of cake home. I did not try it but they say that any type of cake you choose is superb.

Parking: There is a parking lot adjacent to the restaurant as well as free street parking and is easily walkable.
