Well, it's been an interesting evening of cramping and diarrhea. Gotta say, for $40 (with mandatory 20% gratuity included *rolls eyes*), I didn't expect to be doubled over in pain on a toilet. But here we are....
Came in with a group for our monthly work luncheon and, even though we said 6 were coming, they shoved us in this tiny booth in the back that barely gave us enough room to sit, much less set our plates down to eat. Thankfully, our boss speaks up and she requested to be sat elsewhere.
Not a huge issue, but the toilet paper in the women's room is hanging on the door in front and you have to almost fall off the toilet to reach it.
I got the mardi gras pasta and beignets, as did some other coworkers. The flavor of the pasta sauce was great but the andouille could've been charred a little more to give it some texture. The beignets were pretty average, but I'm used to stellar ones in southern MS, so I'm biased.
The lady who waited on us certainly wasn't rude, but everyone on staff was just aloof. Like you'd try to kid with them and they'd just smirk and move on. It was off-putting like we were burdensome.
That, and they have a 1.5 hr max policy so right about 1 hr 10 mins, this taller white employee with brown hair ,zposts up and is just staring us down, not even trying to be coy, waiting for us to leave. Just to piss him off, a couple coworkers bought another order of beignets at the 1.5 hr mark and we stayed another 15-20 mins. Ha!
Pretty sure none of us left an additional tip which is sad, because I normally leave 25% when not coerced into it. Sorry your waitress got stiffed cause of your terrible gratuity policy.
And, as previously mentioned, my stomach is now exploding. So eat here at your own risk.

Lissssssten!!!!! As a native Texan & former Rolltide Football Mom…. I’m stopping at THIS RESTAURANT EVERY TIME our family comes to Birmingham AL ❤️❤️❤️ … big thanks to Attorney at Law - Ron Brown & his esteemed wife Naomi for sharing the goodness of great food with us!!!!! I’d give it 10 stars if I could with the lovely manager & staff ….

We have eaten there before and everything was great , however this visit was not very good. We arrive at a decent time the restaurant was not crowded but it took some time to get our food. Our salad came out with our entree instead of before the meal. My husband and I ordered the red fish , it definitely was overcooked. I also order blackened shrimp which did not come out with my order but some time afterwards. The shrimp had no seasoning on them at all. We made our waitress and the manager aware of this matter and his concession was to give us a 10% discount. Very disappointed with our dinning experience.

We were seated and waited for 15 minutes while three different servers walked by our table multiple times. Not one introduced themselves or even offered to take a drink order, despite the restaurant only having three other tables occupied. Meanwhile, two hostesses stood at the front laughing and talking. Very disappointing first impression — we ended up leaving without being served. Customer service needs serious improvement.

My date requested for the largest grilled fish they had on the menu & when his food came, it was SMALL/MEDIUM size & he was NOT happy. I had wings & they had too much lemon pepper on them. The sweet didn't good & asked for a Dr. Pepper or Mr. Pibb instead. Mr. Pibb tasted FLAT & I refused to ask for anything else.

I don't understand why Cajun Roux has only 4.3 stars!! This is my favorite place to eat and I'm from New Orleans. I'm a transportation hostess and bring groups to CR all the time and they rave about the food even into the next day! I usually always get the Fried Catfish Platter and it is perfectly fried, tender, and flakey. I recently had the Armadillo Balls and they were to die for!! The atmosphere is nice with it's NOLA style decorations, several televisions to watch the games, and an exterior porch where you can sometimes catch live music. The only thing that makes me sad is that they don't carry Coke Zero which is all I can drink late at night. Other than that, it's the perfect place!!

I am truly disappointed in my recent visit on today, August 17th. I sat at the bar, order a drink and appetizer after looking over the menus. After waiting twenty plus minutes for my appetizer, I asked the bartender to cancel my appetizer and I was just gone place my entree order to go. She wasn’t attentive as she should have been because she didn’t notice I didn’t have the appetizer. She informed me they were working on my appetizer, I placed my to go entree order. Then one passes by, she brings out the entree order but still
no appetizer. I asks about the appetizer and she states I thought you were cancelling but previously informed me they were working on it. I would
not recommend this restaurant, the service was poor. She was on her phone behind the bar instead of the being the advocate for me. Lastly, I arrived home 8-10 minutes after leaving the restaurant. My blackened redfish was OVERCOOKED and extremely dry. It was unbearable. I couldn’t even eat it.

First of all, they have a very rude sign posted up saying if you can't afford to tip 20% then this isn't the restaurant for you. Now if the service was good, that wouldn't be a problem. We had a horrible server. The place is super small but the food was decent.

We took our daughter and family here for an early dinner before taking her to college the next morning. It was a wonderful experience for all of us. She and her boyfriend ordered crab legs, my husband ordered the shrimp penne pasta, I had the jambalaya, and my 6 year old son had the kids chicken tenders. We also ordered crab cakes for an appetizer.
Everything tasted great. It wasn't a big deal, but when we ordered the chicken tenders for my son we asked for hush puppies instead of chips but the plate came with chips. We didn't say anything to the waiter, though.
We'll definitely go back for another celebratory dinner.

My husband and I decided to try Cajun Roux based off a recommendation. We ordered Calamari, which was absolutely delicious. I ordered the crab cake sandwich. I tasted the crab, and was not good AT ALL to me. Telling our waitress, she went to get the manager. She told us she couldn't take the plate back.. I never experienced service at a restaurant where you couldn't return food you didn't like and replace it with something else. It furiated my husband and the police was called. Whoever the manager called and spoke to authorized the meal to be removed from our ticket, but set stipulations on when we could visit the restaurant again. I will NEVER come back and will never put it on my list of recommendations for people who may ask about a nice restaurant.. This experience ruined my day..

Been working our way through all the Cajun places in the area, and this one's a keeper! Busy, but not packed at lunchtime on a Saturday. Nice cross between a sportsbar and slightly more upscale tavern atmosphere, with a patio that adjoins the bar in nice weather. Staff was very friendly, and food was ready quickly.
Ordered a cup of gumbo, cup of jambalaya, calamari, hushpuppies, and bread pudding. All were great, and the calamari included the squid tentacles as well as body, which hasn't been common in our experience.
