Today I was leaving Grandview Hospital broken and hurting. As I was about to walk out a young man, later discovered to be the owners son, smiled so kindly and offered me a piece of lemon pound cake, there's no way he knew it is my favorite pound cake. I am the Sheriff in Blount County Alabama and was in uniform and he handed me the cake he thanked me for what I do and told me to be safe. It was as if God knew I needed a little piece of cake and a kind hearted smile to bring me some peace. Other than the kindness shown to me the cake was the most amazing piece of pound cake I have ever eaten. It was so moist with just the right amount of lemon to give it the best flavor. Thank you for what you do, you may not truly know the blessing you gave me today.

You have to taste it to believe it! This is hands down the BEST pound cake - or any kind of cake - that I've ever had! It's really SIX STARS OR MORE!

I bought a small Red Velvet Snack sized cake from Sam’s it was not what I was hoping. It looked delicious but it was dry, no flavor, and not worth the 11.00 I paid for

Quaint little place tucked away in a cozy corner of Pelham. Very accommodating and gracious proprietor. Very helpful with information on their offerings.POUND CAKE!! Moist, delicious old fashioned pound cake. Their menu offers several flavors like Key lime, chocolate, strawberry and, wait for it, Sweet Potato. It's a seasonal flavor and I can't wait for Thanksgiving ?Be sure to seek them out and stop in. It's worth it. Yummy!

I got this cake from Sam's Club in Columbus Georgia and got a small personal pan just to try it. This cake taste so good moist buttery sweet like my grandma and ancestors used to make. I tried to go to another Sam's closer to me and couldn't find it. I hate I just got a small piece now I'm trying to locate it again

Moist is an understatement! The cakes are rich and delicious! They melt in your mouth. I come from a long line of baker's and these cakes taste fresh every single time I eat a slice. All of the flavors are amazing! Run do not walk to the website or business. They do ship and it comes perfect.

I purchased a small skillet caramel cake at the Christmas Show at BJCC on Friday. I was disappointed my cake was so very dry when we cut into it that night.

I just had an encounter with this bakery at Grandview Hospital. I was rushing to make it back to her before she packed up and her attitude was absolutely terrible. I am disheartening because I truly wanted to support her business. My sister and myself was very pleasant with the owner but she was not welcoming at all and and she glad when we couldn’t decide what we wanted so she could pack up and leave. I will never support her again.

The Original Heirloom Pound Cake (Round) is what I recommend. But aside from the cakes, let's talk about the awesome customer service I received. I ordered a pound cake for my 76 year old mother who currently lives up north. So I looked to Google to tell me black owned bakeries in Birmingham AL and Emily's Heirloom Pound Cakes pulled up.I wanted the cake to be delivered by Labor Day to my mom but delivery would've been delayed. But the owner reached out to me to discussed the options and made it all possible. I ordered the cake Thursday and the cake was delivered Friday. My mom was so surprised and happy about a real pound cake that came from the south. The product was moist and delicious but the warm, personable interaction won over a customer for life. Thank you Mrs. McClung for making it possible and may everything you do flourish.

I came to this Review area expecting to see terrible reviews. I am shocked at what I am reading about all of these positive experiences when mine was so bad. I feel like now I must have received something that was spoiled or outdated. I bought them at Sam's club yesterday we tried to have them as a snack after dinner last night And we ended up throwing all 8 pieces in the garbage after taking a small taste of each one, they were all hard. All but 2 appeared to be an end cut, and the flavors were just bad. I am not exaggerating when I say the keyline was the worst baked good I have ever tasted, It actually tasted exactly like baby vomit from milk smells. I am happy for the folks at Emily's Heirloom pound cakes that my experience appears to be a one off.

LIFE'S BATTER WITH CAKE! Since I am in Florida this week and spending Mother's Day with my mom, I wanted to send her something special. I'm not really the one who is into sending edible arrangements, I consider that a last minute thing. Since all of us: mom dad brother and I are gonna be together this year, I wanted to send her something we can all enjoy together. I had been wanting to try Emily's Heirloom Pound cakes for a while. I love their mission and how they started. The history is so loving and wholesome, there are certainly a lot of other reasons this spot has stuck around for as long as it has. Like many of the other small businesses in Birmingham they started off selling their cakes and items at the local farmers market. This is a great way to bring more foot traffic into your business. So bravo for that! At first it was just simply for fundraising, but soon as people wanted more and more they had enough money to both open their own business as well as give the fundraiser money to where it needed to go. Who doesn't love a mission that not only gives to a good cause but also brings their customers delicious treats?! Anyway, I decided on sending my mother their seasonal peach and brown sugar cake so all of us can try a piece of Birmingham right here in FL and also support a small business. I think this is the best way to show my parents and friends new ideas as gifts so then maybe they can later send something like this to one of their friends. I'm so excited to actually try some more of their products and see them at the farmers market! The peach one is delicious!

These cakes takes like my grandmother made them - especially the skillet caramel! We had Emily's make our wedding cake, and every guest happily took home additional pieces. Emily's was also able to make an equally delicious gluten free, dairy free cake that our guests with severe allergies absolutely raved about. Beyond the cake, working with April was an absolute pleasure. You HAVE to try these cakes!!
