Old dinner at vestavia-hoover area of Birmingham. Good burger as expected and a classical road style ambient. The service is fast and efficient.

Certainly there is some old school pit nostalgia, which nice But that’s where it ends. The food is not up to par. I fail to see how this place stays in business, unless patrons simply don’t know good bbq. The chopped pork was flavorless and dry. Didn’t even have a smoked pork taste, very bizarre. The buns were stale and the sauce might as well been ketchup. It’s almost like they intend the meat to be drowned in sauce for it to be remotely edible. Lastly, an indicator of how tip culture has gotten out of control, I did a walk in/carry out order and was asked to tip, minimum was 20%. That’s insulting. I cannot recommend this establishment to anyone.

This is a typical friendly mom and pop establishment, the service is friendly and the food is good.Baked beans is fair the slaw is excellent as is the fries. There hamburger steak may be the best I’ve had and the gravy and onions on top were delicious.Toast is great and the other meats like sliced barbecue pork is great as well.Only issue is when you order half and half tea it comes out tasting like regular sweet tea.If your watching sugar intake just order unsweetened tea.The atmosphere is really good and family friendly.I would definitely recommend trying this place for good barbecue

For it to smell so good from outside, the pulled pork plate was lacking flavor...without sauce, I would't even call it bbq. Baked beans were also lacking....no onion or peppers, I've honestly had better right out of the can. Vinegar based cole slaw was good. Fried apple pie was very greasy & unappetizing, flavor was nothing special either. I thought $60+ was a reach considering the quality of the food. Still searching for a good BBQ joint locally. ?
