The best Cajun seafood in the Birmingham Metro area.
Stopped by yesterday to check it out. Was greeted by staff as I walked through the door. Beautiful fresh fish. Wild caught Gulf seafood is always my favorite. Snapper, five kinds of shrimp, fresh oysters. Staff was very helpful and eager to help. They steamed a pound of shrimp for me and made some extra spicy cocktail sauce just as I requested. I'll go back for oysters and snapper soon. Easy parking, friendly folks, good service, and great products. Give them a try.
Ladies were very helpful! Great service and selection of seafood. Very fresh and clean
Husband has a specific allergy. On our first visit Joe* offered to make a special batch of his seafood bisque. It was outstanding!
I bought these grouper throats from the market, and they are superb! Wonderfully fresh and flavorful! A Must-try!
Best seafood this side of the Mississippi. Not only did they steam it for us, but gave us samples and taught us how to eat the crawfish.
They had a item that I had been looking for about a Month now, I paid roughly about 75$ more than I usually pay for them . The quality of the product that I purchased I would pay that 219.00 again
These guys are doing it right. Display cases are incredible.
I absolutely looooove coming to Hoover seafood market!! The owners make you feel like family, and have taught me so much about how to cook a variety of fish! Seafood is always fresh, delicious and a really good price.
This is the only place I buy seafood now, if you haven’t been, you definitely need to. For quality of product, it literally can’t be beat! They get everything in fresh, they steam it for you if you want, and their crawfish brine is TO DIE FOR! They also sell the brine for you to cook on your own at home if you’d rather. They have all the spices to do Cajun right, and the staff couldn’t be more helpful or knowledgeable. Joe is always at the counter and you’ll never meet anyone who knows more about seafood. I can’t rave about this place enough, it’s clean, convenient, and better freshness and quality of seafood in Birmingham, you’ll never find!

They have a variety of fresh seafood, friendly staff, and great prices! Would definately recommend to seafood lovers!
Seafood gumbo is on on point. Rich flavor and boucoup crabmeat! Boiled crawfish is also great, plenty of spice but not over salted. I’m from south Louisiana and this is Cajun certified ??!!!
Great staff , and very clean place , plus they have shields so you don’t have to worry about any COVID related issues !! VERY helpful staff and they had everything I need and if they didn’t they offered bountiful help to getting what I did need !! Would recommend 100000000000x
I decided to shop local instead of Whole Foods on hwy 280 in search for whole red snapper. They did have red snapper and was able to prepare it for cooking just as Whole Foods does. Their prices are higher than Whole Foods which wasn't a deal breaker. We purchased 2 whole red snapper at $52.61 and a half of filet of Salmon at $27.13. They politely provided ice for the ride as requested. Before we could get home we started smelling a foul smell from the fish. This has never happened on our ride from Whole Foods which is a farther distance. We are not fish experts by any means- just seafood lovers. Anyone who does fish would know that one of the fish that we were sold was spoiled and should not be eaten. Definitely an owner or employee of a seafood market would know this. I did some research to determine the signs of bad fish (Spoiled fish has an unpleasant, sharp smell of trimethylamine (bad fish) and rot. Eyes of fresh fish are bulging and shiny. Eyes of old fish are cloudy and sunken into the head. Gills and fins of fresh fish are moist). One of our fish had all of the signs listed (I posted pictures of the two snappers we were sold). So what was meant for dinner for two is now dinner for one for @ $52.61.This was my first and last experience at the Hoover Seafood Market.
Right on time, great customer service, great prices and reliable!!! My uncle and I were frustrated New Years Eve because we were unable to find fresh catfish but we found it at Hoover Seafood Market ??????
