I am not usually one to leave reviews — I’ve spent my entire career in hospitality, and I know things happen. I also know, without a shadow of a doubt, that I was calm, respectful, and never asked for anything unreasonable during my visit, so the encounter was quite baffling and disappointing.

When I walked in, I noticed what appeared to be a manager behind the counter training a new team member. I even overheard him explaining what hospitality is to the young employee — which made the experience that followed even more strange.

While looking over the menu, I got a call from my son, who has a severe peanut and pecan allergy and avoids all nuts for safety. He asked me to order a chicken panini, which comes with a basil pesto aioli. Being in the industry, I know pestos are sometimes made with pinenuts, sometimes not — so I simply asked the manager if their pesto contained any.

Both he and another team member (who seemed to be a kitchen enployee/manager) just stared at me. He shrugged and said, “I couldn’t even tell you.” That was it. No follow-up, no effort. So I asked if it would be possible to find out, and he replied, “Well, it comes into us that way.”

At that point, I asked if he could check the ingredients on the box. His response? “If it needs to go that far, I guess I can.” What?!

Needless to say, I put my menu down, told him not to worry about it, and walked out. Ended up at Chick-fil-A next door, where it’s always a pleasure and guests are treated with genuine care. This Jason’s Deli could learn a lot from them. I asked a reasonable question - I shouldn’t be made to feel like an inconvenience. The lack of care, or effort, was simply shocking.

The irony is that this same manager was simultaneously teaching a young employee about hospitality, while demonstrating the opposite to a guest standing right in front of him. This is exactly why our industry struggles to train and retain true hospitality professionals.

This is my new favorite lunch spot. The salad bar is my favorite thing! If you remember the Ruby Tuesdays salad bar and miss that, check out Jason's Deli and you won't be disappointed! Fresh, great service, and well priced!

Food was great! The Salmon sandwich was as delicious. Restaurant was very clean. Decided to go on my lunch break since I’ve never been before. With me being a young black woman, in a restaurant full of “non” blacks, you can tell that they cater more to the “non” black people. The manager I believe , guy wears glasses, walked around the entire restaurant and made sure everyone’s food and services were good, and he totally skipped my table. Crazy part about it is, they have black staff! Lol. I will never sit in again. I’ll order my food to go next time. Great food, rude service.

Salad bowl police. Lumpy broccoli soup. I could make a better sandwich with a quick trip to Walmart. The people are very nice and the salad bar is fantastic. Pass.

UPDATE: I spoke with Daniel at the store after he replied to my review. He listened very well. I felt like my concern was taken seriously and he would work on communication at order taking. He is a manager who cares so I feel much better about going back in the future. I have updated my service score from 3 to 4 stars.

We stopped coming here because nine times out of 10 our order was incorrect. Today we tried it again and I ordered a manager special with a half smoked turkey sandwich with spicy mustard plus fruit. Verified it twice with the cashier. Instead, I got a full sandwich with a full fruit side with regular mustard. There were so many customers in line that I just kept the sandwich and took home half instead of speaking with the manager because he was busy. Just ate the cost as a lesson learned and won’t willingly go back again.
