This place has great tasting food and a variety to choose from. It's a BBQ place, and I was hungry for Brunswick stew. This was the only place I could find it, and it was delicious! This place stays crowded, but when we got there, luckily, we got the last seat available. It was upstairs, but we took it. The steps are steep and narrow, but we made it. I can't wait to go back! Good food, friendly waiter.

First off let me say this, if it’s down South and it’s a shake the food probably shaking! I mean this place is truly authentic! The FIRST day we went, we all agreed to get something different just to try multiple dishes. The appetizer we picked were giant egg rolls and hush puppies. The egg rolls were good, BUT THESE DAMN hush puppies were thee best I’ve ever had! We had maybe 4 orders of them. And we had like two pork platters, and 100 wings with every sauce on the menu. The Alabama white sauce is TOP TIER! The ribs were delicious and smoky, the drinks were plentiful. Because we were in this small town for training we thought the next day we could just come back and eat there again. WRONG, word of mouth is insane in small places, this restaurant was so packed with people from training the wait to get in was well over an hour. I would come back just for the hush puppies. Long story short, this place was great from the customer service to the food!
So very good. Just driving down the road and one look and we knew it had to be good. We were not wrong. They get it right, all of it.

Probably the best ribs I’ve eaten. Their dry rub gives a crispy texture to the outer layer that stimulates a new sensation along with the excellent flavor. Great service and definitely “rib shack” atmosphere. Recommended.

Nice place close to Jackson University. Probably one of the friendliest staff I have had the pleasure of meeting. The host and servers were great. Simple menu that doesn’t over complicate the food items or overwhelm guests. The atmosphere is great with a loft that has additional seating. Very cool and comfortable environment with each state’s license plate tacked to the ceiling. Food was amazing. The party I came with all raved about their ribs. I had the pork BBQ and I was not disappointed. A must try if you are in this part of Alabama.

OK, For the first time in a long time, I simply could not wait to write a review of a BBQ place. First, I consider myself a fairly good pit master (based on other's opinions) so my level of expectation is pretty high. There were six of us there so we were able to try several items off the menu. We had smoked sausage, ribs, pulled pork and wings. We also had a pan of their hushpuppies. The ribs were simply amazing. Spare rib style, not baby backs and they were super meaty. I had mine dry and others had theirs sauced. All were very pleased. The pulled pork was moist and full of flavor. The wings were big and meaty. The dry rub seemed to be better than the sauced but needless to say none were left. If there was any critique, I would say that the potato salad needed some flavor. The texture was right but needed some more mustard, pickles and some seasoning. Service was great and the ambiance was very eclectic.Bottom line? Road trip worthy. I'm from the Chattanooga TN area and am already planning a trip back.
Great food and a surprising yet wonderful atmosphere! You would not think much about this place as you drive by, but the ribs are amazing. They have a wet or dry rub depending on what you like. It's a little tight inside but definitely worth it.

So disappointed in Cooter Brown I’ve been eating here for 7 years. Never have I had a bad experience but I order take out half a slab they only gave me 3 ribs when it’s supposed to be 5-6 piece. So once my sister brought my order home I reached out and ask to speak to the manager BIGGEST MISTAKE HE WAS SO RUDE! Said it was nothing he could do never tried to accommodate the situation even when I said I can bring it back send pictures and etc! He was acting so racist towards me never will I eat there again! That is bad for business!
