My husband just returned with our food from this BBQ joint, and is not flavorful at all. The only thing that taste ok is the fried okra. The coleslaw has pickle relish in it?? The collard greens are just okay and the potato salad is okay. I guess being from Georgia and eating BBQ and soul food from Old National and Cascade you would expect more. I guess we will open a BBQ or Soul food spot because these people in Alabama can't cook. Sorry, but not sorry.

In 2008, after football practice, this man made me the best ribs I ever ate. We went by his restaurant next to JSU today and they are still the best. Check them out at Mason's BBQ in Jacksonville. Tell them Coach Love sent you. Promise you'll like whatever you get.
Have eaten here twice now. Love the food and the service. Friendly staff. Very sorry wait time. Some of the best food I've had in a long time. Do yourself a favor and go by and see Gary and the gang. The BBQ is delicious and the catfish is absolutely the best I've ever had. If you think Top of the River is good, I think you will agree with me that Masons' catfish is even better. They have some good sides too and the portions are very generous. Very conveniently located across from Jax State stadium.

Great dining experience. The children had the junior chicken tenders and fries, I had BBQ sandwich and potato salad, and my husband had the fried catfish filets with collards and french fries. We also ordered two go plates of chicken wings and BBQ sandwich.The sweet tea is awesome. The best BBQ sauce I've ever tasted. All of the orders were delicious and the service was great. They serve Chicken and Dressing and Deviled Eggs on Sundays only. Great Southern Cooking!
We had a great meal. We went early on Friday for lunch. The food was hot and fresh. The BBQ was tasty. I had the catfish, it was so good and plenty of food. I took extra home. The sides were plentiful. You gotta try this place. It is worth your visit. The staff was welcoming and friendly. Our server was very attentive. If you haven't eaten here, you are definitely missing out. They have the best ribs we ever had. They were tender, cooked perfectly and very flavorful. Their barbecue sauce is singularly outstanding. All the sides were exceptional. Our server, Stefani, provided excellent customer service and went out of her way to ensure we had everything we needed. We'll be back.We highly recommend.
