Barrio Modern Mexican Cuisine

This is the most amazing Mexican food experience. The food was great quality and prepared perfectly. The enchilada meal was extremely tasty and everyone at our table was very pleased with their meals. The chef was personable, allowing us to try all the different homemade sauces and he is obviously a very talented chef.

just stopped in for lunch on my route this afternoon to escape the rain, and was very pleased with my decision. the food was absolutely delicious and I can't wait to come back and try more different foods. friendly and helpful staff, cozy feel, and a beautiful little place. Drive by everyday on my way to work. For my birthday decided to have dinner. Did not disappoint. From the atmosphere, staff and chef. The executive chef came out to meet us and told us about brunch on Saturday. Guess what my plans were for Saturday morning? Once again did not disappoint. The food is delicious. Don't miss out on this fantastic place.

This hidden gem in City of Athens, Alabama (Public Relations) is amazing and, once discovered, I go nearly every time I'm there. Even with modifications to suit my significant food allergies, the meals are exquisitely served and deliciously prepared. This is high-end Mexican food at its finest with a come as you are dining experience. Dress up or down and head to Barrio. Order the Mahi, the chicken, or the carnitas; you will not regret it. For drinks, the bartender makes his own mocktails and cocktails with fresh ingredients and whole fruit accents. The fresh watermelon margaritas and traditional mojitos are must-haves. Sports watchers, there are plenty of tvs at the bar to keep up with your Elite 8 games. To top it off, this is a family friendly place, too; so, bring the kids. Enjoy!

I finally got the opportunity to try out Barrio today and if you’re on the fence about where to go eat, I 100% recommend giving this place a try. (Warning it may become a regular craving) Everything was so delicious and fresh! 10/10 will be going back. I can’t wait to try their margaritas! Also they have brunch and bottomless mimosas, you’re welcome. 😘👌🏻

WOW. Just WOW. Every great thing that I’d heard about this place was spot-on...the clean and modern atmosphere, friendly and attentive servers, quality and freshness of the ingredients, awesome margaritas, and a professional, welcoming, accommodating and knowledgeable owner/head chef made this a wonderful dining experience. I so appreciated how Justin, the head chef/owner, frequently went from table-to-table speaking with each and every guest to ensure that everyone had what they needed, were satisfied and to answer any questions. We will definitely be back!!!

Good food great service!! It’s just a kind and welcoming place. I wish we could go more often. The cheese dip is the best!! And the tortillas are home made! We usually go for dinner but we finally had brunch and that was great too!! My diet plan goes out the door every time we go but well worth it. I recommend every one get the cheese dip!! It’s not like any other

My family and I went here on a random Sunday afternoon after hearing good things from friends. So glad we went. There is really nothing like it in the area, not even close. You can tell by the attention to detail in the place settings of the tables that it’s different, everything is perfectly placed and ready for you. We got some drinks, the mezcal mule and the habanero margarita were incredible. Chips and salsa were freshly made and delicious, complimentary of course. The gauc, top tier. I had the Asada and it was possibly the best steak dish I’ve had from a restaraunt, and I’ve had a lot of steak. Then, we met Justin, the owner and chef. You could tell how much he cares about the food and the experience that his guests have. There wasn’t a single thing to complain about. This is not a standard tex-mex restaraunt, so if you want that, go somewhere else. Seriously, there’s a million other places that do that very well. This is legit elevated mexican, everything is from scratch, and it is special. Couldn’t recommend it enough. Also, get the flan.

Came here tonight with some friends and omg.. the food, margaritas, and service were all amazing! I got the Asada which was heavenly. Our one gripe (everything else makes up for this) is the lighting. The atmosphere is so chill but the lights are so bright! But I will come here all the time now that I know about it.

This place is a gem!!!? This is some of the Mexican street street corn I've had since being in Cali! Justin, the Executive Chef was so nice and welcoming! Service top-notch! The asada was ????? The tres leches!!!!!!!!! I'm coming back for sure!

Chef Justin is amazing! 10/10!!! If you are a fan of Mexican food, this is the best I've had. The way he has put his menu together is great and he came to our table personally to speak about what he has and can do if we would like to change anything. Very personable and has an amazing story. He has been al over the world as a chef and it shows. Cannot recommend Barrio enough!
