Me and my family had the Carnitas, Pollo Mole, and a Shrimp Quesadilla. The Pollo Mole was outstanding, and a very unique combination of grilled chicken and sweet plantains. The Shrimp Quesadilla was very thick and was pretty good. The sauce that came with it was also good. The Carnitas was very tender and juicy and came with a side of refried beans that were AMAZING. I have never tasted refried beans that good. Service was excellent and food came out very quickly. When we walked in, I noticed that it was very inviting and hip. Very nice setup.

The food was EXCELLENT! Amazing service, sweet staff, and great food. Everything from salsa to the meals were amazing. We will be coming back here for sure! These are the best tacos I’ve had and I’ve tried tons. Our server was also so kind and helped recommend my boyfriends meal who also loved his food! 10/10 overall!

I could get real wordy and detailed, but let's make one thing clear...this food is amazing! We moved from the west coast of Huntsville and thought we likely not enjoy fine Mexican food unless we visited the west coast. We were wrong, Barrio is a literal miracle in the heart of Dixie! Little back story the chef is a world traveled chef and life has a way of putting you where it wants you to be along with the good Lord, and man did it land Justin and his family in a place you wouldn't expect. Justin came out to greet my wife and I and share his story, not because he is plugging but because he has passion, passion for his food and his family. First off, best margarita I have EVER had and as many as I have had living out west in Nevada and California is saying something. All fresh ingredients in drinks and food and you can taste it. The tacos were amazing and the food is cooked perfectly, the blends and depth of flavor in Justin's offerings are amazing. The seasoning is perfect, shrimp, pork belly, fresh home made corn tortillas with masa from scratch...you cannot beat it people. You would never expect to find this jewel where we found it. Just get in there, enjoy Justin's fire for food and his family...you can taste it in every bite. Can't wait to head back for more!!

I'm here for the rural Limestone County Food Renaissance. Never really care for tacos, but after tonight, I'm a believer. I supposed I've just had bad tacos? But these were excellent. I also don't usually like cilantro, but all of the flavors were so well blended and established that the cilantro didn't make the entire taco taste like soap. The chef seems like a solid guy, he owns and operates it, which is truly out of the norm around here in chain restaurant purgatory. Give him your business, you won't regret it. :)

Gem of a place! Spouse and I went to Barrio for the first time this week. Met the chef, who explained his story and the menu. Wonderful food that is flavorful and so much better than the typical crappy Mexican places that are a dime a dozen around here. Carnitas may be the best we ever have, not the dried out dog food that is so standard everywhere. I don't even like flan but it was amazing. Fried plantains were for sure the best I've had in HSV! Everything is house made except the churros, which he gets from the same supplier that Disney uses! Please check this place out and support a small locally owned place. We will definitely be back!

Not your typical Alabama Mexican, will definitely be back!!Vegetarian options: Even the cheese enchiladas are excellent, not boring yellow cheese and canned sauce, everything was well flavored and fresh. Also, they are happy to accommodate if you want veggies or changes to dishes.

We decided to try out a new spot for National Margarita Day, and it was a pleasant surprise!! Our waitress was very friendly and informed us of the popular items. Cost wise a little more, the margarita (classic) was I’d say 8oz but definitely had a punch!! AND I really was pleased with my food coming out HOT‼️ I had the 3 taco special and my husband the Asada. A hidden gem!

Have eaten here numerous times and the service and food is always impeccable. If you’re used to TexMex or Cancuns #12, this place will be a shock to your taste buds. Every dish is thoughtfully prepared and presented. I have had the Asada which eschews the normal Flank Steak heavily seasoned for a nicer and slightly thicker cut paired with an in house sauce that was excellent without killing the natural flavor of the meat. I also enjoyed their seafood enchiladas, the flavors are tough to pull of and compliment one another, but it was done to perfection. Like any new establishment, it is still getting its feet, but the service is always done with a smile and the owner Justin is always quick to mingle with the patrons. We have eaten at 5-star and Michelin rated restaurants across the world and this place stands as one of my favorites, it’s truly a hidden gem.

This is not just a regular Mexican restaurant. The experience and atmosphere was great. Very friendly staff and even the owner came out to ask how everything was. Food was amazing. Was able to relax and enjoy. Have been twice already and have been satisfied both times. My new go to spot.

My parents & I went to Barrio this evening. We requested vegetarian options. The chef personally came to our table to provide us alternatives & let us try different sauce blends. We ordered vegetable enchiladas with chipotle sauce, black beans, rice, & roasted plantains. The meal was prepared wonderfully with a blend of various spices. The chef & waitress came to our table several times to check on our order. He was kind to bring us street corn to try. We are also grateful to the chef for bringing my dad a surprise birthday treat of churros! Thank you chef & to the staff for your care & amazing service.
