J. Alexander's Restaurant

This was a very weird event from the start. I went with a group of friends and co-workers for a Christmas get-together. There were 8 of us. Our reservations were canceled somewhere else, and this place was close by. We started off with appetizers just to make sure everyone had arrived. Once they had another appetizer was ordered. When everything started coming out, someone else ordered an appetizer. Then another and so on. I ordered a salad (which was amazing) and a water. An hr goes by, and I'm asking the waitress if I can order a meal. A couple of us had asked several times with no reply.
A chicken sales comes out with no chicken to a female across the table. She tells the waitress. Who reied I'll be right back. After a while, she goes ahead and eats the salad. She tells the waitress again and says, "It's ok, I just don't want to be charged for a chicken salad. Just charge me for the ceaser. The waitress comes back with a 2nd huge chicken salad. Again, she nicely tells the waitress, "I'm full. It's not something I can take home. Please take it back and don't charge me for the chicken." This waitress gets upset and walks out on our table. They have to get us a new waitress!
Some of us have had no refill and I'm still asking to order. The 2nd waitress is trying to catch up and figure out what happened. By this time we have already exchanged gifts and basically done with our party. We passed our appetizers to whoever was still hungry. They never took my order!
By this time I'm ready to go, It's already been a couple of hours. Finally, we ask for the check when a new waitress says, "How do you guys want to separate your checks, we can only devide it into 4 separate checks. We are all looking at one another. It's weird and awkward! Either I pay for someone's meal and they pay me back or they pay for mine and I pay them back. Some of the people there really didn't know each other! We finally agree to do it and then they get all of our drinks and food mixed up. Everything is on the wrong ticket. It was a mess! After all of this we pay a gratuity of 20%. The funny thing is, I'm a great tipper and had planned on giving more than that to this 2nd (maybe 3rd) waitress that was thrown into this mess. 😄
I guess what I'm saying is that I'll never go back there with a group. However, everything I ate was delicious. The service was a 1🌟

This hurts to rate so low because I love the food and the service is always great, but…… Why would you change the chocolate layer cake to a chocolate Bundt cake? I’d come at least once a week for that cake, it was my favorite dessert in Huntsville. I’ve tried the Bundt cake a few times now and it is sub par. I’ll still visit when convenient but won’t go out of my way any longer. If anyone in management reads this, please bring it back!

Absolutely great all around experience. We will making a trip back to Alabama just to come here. We Can't wait until we come back and bring our friends on a couples date. Ty for they great experience.

I have ate at the one in Hoover and Nashville and these one is different. Not in a good way. The food is missing taste . Last night service wasn’t good . In fact it was the worse service I have had there . I don’t know if they let too many people off or yall experiencing going downhill. But the taste of the food hasn’t been tasteful the last couple of times . I hope it gets fix and change because I do like going there .

Great Place, excellent service, enjoyed the shrimp & the Nashville hot chicken sandwich was so delicious. Can’t wait to go back!

I’ve never had a bad meal from here. As good as it gets for a chain steakhouse. The prime rib and carrot cake are 10/10. I will only fault them for having sliced mushrooms instead of caps.

Celebrated my anniversary with my boyfriend here and had an excellent experience. Our server Jazz was the most wonderful waitress we have ever had hands down. She made our anniversary extra special with her kindness and gave us great food suggestions. The crab cakes were delicious! 10/10 recommend going here for a nice night out.

I ordered the prime rib and fish tacos as I usually do. It's ALWAYS great, however, for whatever reason the cook decided not to cook my prime rib and the tacos tasted like something was spoiled. The prime rib looked like it was cooked in a microwave and never touched a skillet/pan. It was gray! My father's Maui Steak was horrendous, he couldnt even eat it. It tasted like beef jerky. I hate coming off difficult and giving waiters/waitresses a hard time so I paid and tipped my waitress without asking for it to be remade. She was extremely pleasant, but this experience really put a bad taste in my mouth. The food is usually phenomenal, but sadly they dropped the ball on our last visit, which is the only reason I've given the low rating. If they can make this right I will update you guys and update my review.

terrible overcooked strip steak.
if steak and french fries is $45 - it has to get cooked appropriately. a simple poke test and they'd know not to send it out.

i don't send food back to the kitchen. i should have just not eaten any and asked for it to be taken off the bill. my mistake.

will be trying other places that have some quality.

I spent my birthday here . I felt extra special! The food the service and our server Kayla was absolutely amazing! 5 star service all around! I highly recommend and this is not my first visit. They never disappoint!
