Last night my husband and I had a delicious dinner at Kobe. Although we had dined there a few times with our sushi lover family, last night we were on our own. We are fairly new to sushi and the staff provided us with some excellent selection advice that suited our differing tastes perfectly. The service was attentive and the atmosphere pleasant. As they held the door for me to leave, my husband was crossing the parking lot and fell. Immediately we were surrounded by several of the staff who ran to help. They assisted him to our car and made sure we were both safe in every way and that my husband's injuries were minor. I am so grateful for their immediate and caring response which obviously was totally motivated for their desire to help. This restaurant is not only a fine place to eat but is filled with a staff of truly fine and caring people. You can feel good about going there!

Amazing service. Drove an hour and a half to get there. We went to celebrate an anniversary and we were so impressed by the quality of the sushi. Very clean restaurant. I like salmon and tuna, so I tried the salmon roll, rainbow roll, and the table ordered sushi pizza. High quality and well made. Amazing server. Will be back.

This is a hidden gem! They have a huge selection of sushi and hibachi items. The presentation and plating is beautifully done. The food is very fresh and delicious. We've always had great service. The atmosphere is nothing fancy but the food more than makes up for that!

The portions for the hibachi steak plate are very well balanced. They didn't over burden the plate with vegetables, and they offered more protein than I see at many hibachi places. The rice was a little bland for my taste, but the steak more than made up for it. They didn't seem to have a ginger sauce from what I could tell, though.
Service wise, they were very kind and welcoming. I was very grateful that they left me in peace to eat rather than checking on me every so often. They were attentive, though, and offered a box before I had idled with my plate very long.
I visited at 5pm on a Wednesday. It was not very busy - there was only ever one other customer inside while I was there. The lighting is not bright, but neither is it too dim; I would call this place very sensory friendly in that regard. It was also relatively quiet other than the ventilation from the kitchen, which was decently muffled by the wall separating it from the dining room. It was a bit warm, but that's to be expected with the kitchen in such a small space. Even so, the dining room is not overcrowded. The tables are very nicely spaced in a way that feels cozy but not cramped.
Overall, I had a very good experience here, and I'm glad this is the hibachi/sushi place I visited when I visited the state.

We had a great lunch yesterday of Chicken and Steak Hibachi with spicy crab sushi. Our service was quick and the meal tasted great. Our experience was absolutely delightful with instrumental praise and worship hymns playing at just the right volume. Great food, service, price, and atmosphere… we will be back!
The food is middle of the road, just average, but it came out super quick and was tasty! The service was excellent. We have a newborn and it started raining and our server walked us to the car with an umbrella so she didn't get wet. 10/10 for that alone.

Food is meh. Basically Chinese. It’s so cold in there and it took forever for her to come back and take our order even though there was only 1 other table (already eating).
They are plenty nice. Just not sure how they have such a high rating when the food and service is just mid.

Amazing food! We are former long time residents of Madison (prior to 2013) and just moved back from Florida. We were so disheartened to see that Edo was gone as that was our favorite restaurant of all time (my husband and I had many dates there and used them as part of our wedding activity venues). We hadn't found a proper replacement until we decided to try Kobe a few months ago. The food is wonderful-everything we've tried from the hibachi, udon, miso soap/salad, and sushi is excellent! We are so happy to have found our "Edo" replacement! We hope it stays around for the long term.

When I went to pick the order up I had to show the text where I had placed the order, yet they did not ask the person behind me to do the same. I ordered the shrimp hibachi with no zucchini and no sesame seeds. My food had both. I will not be back.
