The Stem and Stein

They don't seem to care that you're there, but I guess they don't have to 'cause the beer and food were outstanding. Unfortunately this is another bar in the area that makes you babysit for other patrons. Why people keep bringing their kids to watch them get buzzed I'll never understand. Might be a takeout joint in the future.

We have family in Madison, and every time we come to visit, we spend some time at Stem and Stein. The friendliest people, the coolest vibe, and the best beer and wine and food. What else could you ask for?!

The Stem and Stein is hands down the best spot in town for craft beer, wine, and delicious food! I recently tried their limited-time Cuban sandwich, and it was out of this world. The flavors were amazing, the ingredients were fresh, and it was toasted perfectly. Their selection of both beer and wine is top notch. Service is amazing too. Feels like Cheers bar!

This is my first review. I am not one to complain but was very disappointed this evening. My husband and I both ordered a salad and a glass of wine. We paid extra to have chicken added to the salad. Between the two of us we may have received half a chicken breast. We would have asked for more dressing but the waitress didn’t return for quite a while. We decided we would try to order something else to give it another shot. I went to the bar to retrieve a menu. We waited and no one came. Finally the waitress walked by our table while we sat there, with empty water glasses and half eaten salads pushed to the edge of the table. She looked at it and kept going. The restaurant was not crowded. Finally we caught her attention and asked for the check. We won’t be back.

The atmosphere, selection and staff at The Stem and Stein are hard to beat! Delicioso food options served In a quaint and friendly setting. The knowledgeable staff has been so helpful with finding hard to get items or recommendations for great pairings.

Stem and Stein is a great local wine shop. We went to a chocolate and wine paired tasting. The staff was friendly and the pairing was well planned out. I liked that the owner gave great information about pairing wines with savory and sweet foods. It was informative. The wines they chose were great. It was a great experience. We also ordered some appetizers - the caprese app was really tasty. I would love a little more light to see in Stem and Stein which is why I gave atmosphere 4 stars. You won’t be disappointed with a quick stop in.

We absolutely loved the atmosphere, the staff was knowledgeable about the wine options and my husband was very happy with the beer selection. You need to try the pimento brisket sliders! We highly recommend The Stem and Stein for a low key evening out.

Lovely little hole in the wall! All kinds of beers & wines available to buy. VIP Board was amazing and the Strawberry Summer Salad was big & perfect for a hot day!
