The Hatter Cafe is such a neat place to eat and visit. Our waitress was welcoming and attentive, the food was delicious, they offer a wide variety of teas, and the atmosphere is one of a kind. Anyone visiting the area should make the stop!
Enjoyed Mother’s Day eve breakfast on our first visit to The Hatter. The tea was wonderful as was the food and the service. Highly recommend.
What a cool little place! They were packed with a 30 minute wait. Took 1.5 hours to eat but it was great!

This by far my favorite place to eat brunch I had waffles and it was absolutely delicious and this place is so neat and it makes you feel as if you are at movie !! Best staff ever!!! Love this place !!!
Great place for little girls to enjoy the Alice in Wonderland themed cuteness. Very girly sort of a high tea place. Perfect for little princess girls.

Great staff and quality food! Atmosphere is so unique; definitely a must try!
I left a poor review based on a poor experience. The owners responded doubling down on their perspective and suggested my review was hurtful.
After 12 hours of time and space and other meals from other restaurants during our long drive, I have to say...
- The food was overpriced. The cost for a breakfast that took 1.5 hours and left us hungry was the same as a nice sit down dinner.
- There are different definitions of "from scratch." What I experienced is that some of the food tasted and looked packaged. The chicken from the chicken and biscuits tasted exactly like Marie Calendars (there is a unique cut, taste and texture to their chicken and gravy), the biscuits were vegetable oil based and similar in texture to Pillsbury, the "2 day smoked pulled pork" was dry and smothered in Sweet Baby Rays (if you have ever had real smoked pork that is not how you respect the amount of effort that is to make). I could be wrong but it would be harder to copycat those elements than serve them.
- There were a few very redeeming parts: real local sausage, grit cakes were good, challah toast looked good. Not sure why the bread was made in house and not sold at the bakery...... I would have bought it but they only had massive cookies. The server was nice, oversold how good the food was, but kept drinks full, etc.
- The owner replied to my previous comment that all meals take 30 minutes but the replacement waffle for our table took 5. Waffles and bacon, even from scratch, should be quick. While I get they were busy, this was an observation I made.
I'm not mad, I didn't have time to talk to management, and I still think it's worth sharing my experience for other potential customers. Because it was disappointing.
And bless their hearts this is not meant to be hurtful, just helpful to potential customers and their team as they tend to their business.

After waiting 40+ minutes uses to be seated, we got to place our drink selection - unsweetened tea, water with lemon. My water came, unsweetened tea . . .
We patiently waited another 20 minutes, and never had a waitstaff person come by or take our order. In total, we were there for one hour and ten minutes, and our result was one glass of order. We walked. I doubt we were missed.

The jalapeno appetizer was actually good. Scallops absolutely terrible as was the spinach. My steak and risotto were so salty that I couldn’t eat either. The young waitress was clueless about the menu and I had to wait for a steak knife and ask a second time to receive it. Waitress did not even say thank you or come again. Do not waste your money. Went home to eat leftover pizza.

The food was edible, but nothing to write home about really. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was great. The hash brown casserole or whatever, tasted okay but it was super tiny for what they charge. The avocado toast is not as good as the bake house in Fort Payne. The challah French toast was not bad at all, but all in all it was more about the experience and the food. I went there for my birthday breakfast with one of my best friends and it what's only because they were open at that hour on a Saturday morning that we went there. We tried several other spots that are closed on an early Saturday morning in the Fort Payne, Mentone, DeKalb County area.
