A new dining experience in Montevallo! We've eaten here for a lunch and a dinner and both meals were well-prepared and quite tasty. Generous portions and a friendly wait staff. The environment is more up-scale than the other venues in town. Antique bar available for patrons and no TV's as a distraction. Highly recommend!

I ordered the soup of the day (potato leek) and received broccoli cheddar.I told the server that I had been given potato leek soup and she said, “Oh, really?” and I asked if there had been some sort of mistake. She insisted that they gave me potato leek (they have a soup du jour) when I was looking at a bowl of broccoli cheddar right in front of me. It had broccoli and shreds of cheese and carrots and was bright yellow, and had no potato and no leek. I asked again when she came back to check on me and she gave me this look and said, “No, that’s the potato leek soup. We only have one soup every day.”I ate it because I was running low and time and they seemed sort of understaffed. It was fine, not great. I kinda just wanted potato leek. I think I would have liked it more if they told me the soup of the day was broccoli cheddar to begin with.

I’m not sure why there are so many bad reviews for this place. I’ve eaten at some GREAT places in the Birmingham area, and while these aren’t ostentatious dishes, they’re amazing for what they are. The burger was a 10/10, chicken and waffles 10/10 and drinks were a 10/10. I also had the lobster Mac and cheese special, it was absolutely food magazine worthy. Indigo is not outrageously expensive either. It’s perfectly middle of the road for the quality food you get. The atmosphere was also cute and quaint. I guess some people just find joy in complaining. Idk.

Loved the atmosphere of this restaurant. It is located in an old building downtown. The service was very good, and the food was delicious. I had the chicken and waffles. My husband had the burger and my daughter has the lobster Mac n’ cheese. They said their food was delicious too!! I would recommend this place hands down!

The decor made me feel as though I had stepped into an upscale restaurant somewhere other than my town. The service was excellent. I chose to have the French Dip. It was tender and delicious. My friend and I decided to have a glass of wine after our meal. I chose chardonnay. Never have I tested the "notes" of anything. However, I tasted floral notes on the back of my tongue. It's the best I ever had. I highly recommend Indigo's. Will definitely return.

We tried indigo cafe for the first time and it was great. We had three French dips and it was one of the best I have ever had. I would highly recommend that. The chicken salad trio was also great. One other person in our party got the chicken and waffles at brunch and they said it was amazing also. The staff were all nice and very helpful.

Our party (8), was served subpar food, the service was TERRIBLE! It took us 2.5 hours to get our food. The atmosphere was strange. It was an awful experience. 10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND!

I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. There were several issues with service. We waited about an hour to get our food after ordering and upon receiving our food several items were not hot. We ordered a burger and was told it could be cooked to order. We requested medium and recivied a burger that was well done and burnt with an awful flavor. We brought this issue up to one of the owners and when we mentioned the long wait we received a sarcastic sounding "is that it?" The owner did apologize for the burger and it was compt off. But the whole interaction was awkward and unsettling. We will not be back.

Do not go here unless you have at least one and a half to 2 hrs for food. Food was OK but service and time it took to get our food, especially when place was nearly empty was not good. Guess you learn when you try new places. Will go back to our all time favorite, MAIN STREET MONTEVALLO, from now on. Oh, by the way, my family are always great tippers, but not this time.

It's my understanding the old chef doesn't work here anymore so that's maybe why it was underwhelming when I went in during the lunch menu. Will consider trying the dinner menu. Prices were fair. Just lock in and do better.edit:grammar and 2->3 stars

I went here today 2/16 and was pretty disappointed. We were the first ones in the restaurant, 20 minutes after it opened. We gave our orders, my 2 friends ordered the huge and I ordered the chicken and waffles. The chicken and waffles are part of the brunch menu which was not being served this day, but the waitress assured us they were serving brunch. So then 5 minutes later she come back and tells me they don't have it, which I assumed since they weren't supposed to be serving it. So I ended up getting the burger like my friends. The food took about an hour, even though we were the first ones and it was not busy. The fries were cold and there was tomato on my friends burger that he requested to be removed.I finished my water 5 minutes in and didn't get refilled until I received the bill. The waitress was very inattentive. My friends burger also had parchment paper cooked on it when it was brought out to him the second time. Very disappointed with the service and quality of the food

Want to share the word about a new dining option for downtown Montevallo! This is a promising restaurant that has the potential to be a top tier choice! Anyone local that wants a nice meal, a different option for brunch or lunch, or a night out as well as the slew of families in town for college sports & activities, this is a good choice. We were very impressed with the front of house manager Isa and his interest in the quality of our meal as well as any feedback. We enjoyed the eclectic atmosphere filled with a mix of art and antiques as well as the gorgeous bar pictured. They offer a full bar, wine choices and handcrafted cocktails. The soup of the day was a creamy Parmesan artichoke which was quite tasty. Need a place for a group gathering? Book club, gals night out, you name it!, they can accommodate you. With some more word of mouth & a few tiny tweaks, I see Cafe Indigo garnering lots of attention in the restaurant space.
