My wife and I visited Civitas one evening for dinner and, as several other reviews mentioned, were very surprised at the sparse number of customers. I understand restaurants cannot always control the number of people that visit, however, it was a little awkward to be one of only two tables being served. Food and service were decent, but the drinks were sub-par for the price. Overall, we had a pleasant evening, but there's little about Civitas that stands out amongst the competition in the area.

We went to celebrate birthdays and what a disappointment. It started at the beginning with asking for Diet Coke and a glass of Chardonnay , they didn't have either of these! They tried to say they had a big brunch and ran out. I would understand if you are out in the country without a grocery near by but they could have gotten that during the day. There were only 3 tables of two each seated the whole time we were there so obviously others have gotten the message. I had been twice before and had loved the ambience but there wasn't any of that.I will say the food was good. We had the deviled eggs and pimento cheese app. We asked twice for more crackers which they never brought to us so half of the pimento cheese was thrown away. The shrimp and grits was very good. Hamburger was good but you can get that anywhere. I am sorry to see this doing so poorly and don't expect it to be around much longer.

Came here for a coworkers baby shower lunch. They were super accommodating to a big party (15-17). Staff was super friendly and we ordered a bunch of apps - all of which were great. Will definitely be returning. Perfect place for a caesar salad with some fries and a glass of wine.

Nice little restaurant and bar in English Village. We just happened upon this place by accident and thought we'd give it a shot. The hamburgers were delicious. I highly recommend this place.

My wife and I joined a few friends for a birthday dinner here at Civitas on a Friday evening, and our experience was nothing short of delightful. Sunny was our server, and he was as professional and personable as you could hope for. The food was brought out in an efficient time. We all split some appetizers and had differing entrees. Everything was delicious; no one in our party had a complaint. The ambiance of the restaurant was very warm and inviting, and we were all very comfortable for the entire evening. This was my first time dining at Civitas, but rest assured this will not be the last.

We had a 6:45 reservation on a Saturday night and was surprised to find how empty this place was. For the price point it was awkward how quiet and empty it was. The tables were not set and lacked decor. Despite the lack of busy tables, the drinks took forever to arrive. The food however did arrive promptly and was tasty! But they were out of the steak. If you are needing a last minute reservation for a large group this is the place.

We got takeout and overall it was a good experience. However, the vegetable plate was mediocre for the price of $26. It was very lacking, small, and just not worth even close to that price. The chef salad lettuce was iceberg and lacking in flavor. It says it comes with bacon and egg and cheese but I couldn't find any of that on there. They really skimped. We also got the burger and it was very good. The pimento cheese app was fantastic. They are starting out so I want to give them some grace, so if you go here maybe stick to ordering the mainstream items. Good service and fast. The inside is beautiful.

There were mixed reviews online, but we braved ahead on our own. We were not let down. It wasn't busy, especially for Saturday night, but we had a fantastic meal. The fried okra and deviled eggs for appetizers were superb! The four of us each had different meals, and each of us commented on just how wonderful it was. The service was perfection. I have nothing but great things to say about this place. I know we will return and you should try it when in Mountain Brook.

We had a great experience at their happy hour! The server and manager who helped us were great and so fun to talk to. Their happy hour deals are AMAZE. Will be spending all summer there.

Had a wonderful dinner at Civitas. Had the Gumbo which had a nice little kick, the pimento cheese, and the fish of the day (Red Fish). Everything was well seasoned. They have a great wine selection and cocktail menu. I had an Old Fashioned. Haley took good care of me and timed the food perfectly.

I made reservations here for my sister's 50th birthday celebration. Called Tuesday to confirm and was told that the restaurant was bought out for that evening. Reservations were made three weeks ago and no one called to inform me that there were issues. Now I'm stuck having to find another restaurant 4 days before the celebration. ?

Quaint spot. Great fries. Deviled eggs and pimento cheese were good. Entrees (avocado salad, redfish sandwich, chicken finger, burger) were good as well.
