We could tell the food wasn’t fresh in house made food or recipes, everything tasted prepackaged and warmed up, disappointed but it is east of I-35 so go figure.
Food is great and the hospitality is even better!
Absolutely blown away by our experience at El Palacio in Ozark, AL tonight! We walked in just 15 minutes before closing, unsure if we were too late to dine in—but were welcomed in like family by the owner, Ben, without hesitation. Little did they know, we had just come from a long, hard day at UAB Hospital and were in desperate need of a break from driving, an upbeat smile and a good meal. Owner Ben and our amazing waitress Alyssa went above and beyond. Their kindness, energy, and genuine hospitality were exactly what we needed after a long, crazy day full of appointments. Alyssa was just precious! She was attentive and cheerful, and Ben made a point to engage with us in such a personal way—it didn’t feel like a restaurant, it felt like a friend’s kitchen. Now let’s talk about the food—absolutely top notch. Everything was fresh, hot, and full of flavor. Honestly, it put our earlier lunch in Birmingham (at a well-known spot) to shame. This was one of the best meals we’ve had in a long time. Don’t walk, RUN to this gem. We’ll be back again and again.

Absolutely the best Mexican food in town! Customer service is top notch!
Yall this place is amazing!!!! My wife and I ordered enchiladas and a quesadilla, both of which are amazing!!! The waitresses also let us sample a steak finger, it was also amazing!!!! Highly recommend this place!
The wait staff was absolutely phenomenal! My husband and I are from out of town visiting friends and stopped in on our way home. We will for sure be back next time through. The food was fantastic and can’t wait to come back!
We walked in a few minutes before closing (honestly we didn't think to look at their hours beforehand, which i feel terrible about), however, we were greated by our Waitress, Heather and she was just so welcoming and splendid. The food was fresh, salsa was super good, and the spicy white cheese dip was great. It's a total Ozark staple.
I remembered it being better. I’m not sure what has happened but we went yesterday and I couldn’t even eat my food. I’m by no means a picky eater but I refused to eat and pay for something that tasted so bad. The waitress was pretty nice however we ordered A kids meal and they brought us two we acted surprised and they didn’t offer to take it off of the bill. They however did take my food off of the bill as I didn’t eat it.
We enjoyed our food. It was delicious. Also, our waitress was amazing…her name is Alyssa (not sure of the correct spelling.) My family eats out multiple times per month, and she is the BEST waitress we’ve ever had anywhere.

We stopped at El Palacio on a road trip home from Northern Alabama to Miami Florida. Being from Miami we were nervous trusting a Mexican restaurant. But, we really enjoyed the food and the southern hospitality. The chips were fresh greasy and without salt. The salsa was just the right amount of spicy (you got a little bite with each bite). My daughter had the chimichanga which wasn't deep fried, but the beans and Spanish rice were tasty with a strong cumin flavor. The taco salad with its deep fried shell, shredded iceberg lettuce, grilled chicken with a smokey flavor, and a mild guacamole was a southern twist on this mexican-american dish. The mattress was attentive and quick getting us back on the road without waiting.

The food was just okay. Heather, our waitress, was very rude. I was very disappointed with the whole experience 😞

Heather is our waitress. She made sure our drinks were full all the time and would ask us if we needed anything else and every time we go we ask for her because she is always on her A game

Our family goes to Elpalico’s almost every Friday night. 8 of us. For the last 20 years. Since Ben and his crew took over management a few years ago Elpalico’s has become our favorite spot to eat. Great servers and friendly staff. We have our favorite server, Heather. If you’re in the market for a tasty meal, this is your spot. And ya’ll- the cheese dip and salsa 😍 there’s no judgement at a Mexican restaurant table.
