The Ginger Root Reviews
We had a delicious meal last night at The Ginger Root in Samson, AL. Full of flavor with Quality ingredients. The service was great and we were greeted by the owner too. I love that only 10 minutes away from home there is a total 'foodie' restaurant to enjoy great food and a lovely atmosphere. They easily accommodated our gluten free requirements and we were able to have dessert too! It is easy to see the owners passion to create unique dishes full of flavor in a welcoming...read full review
The food here is fantastic — everything tastes fresh and well-prepared. The only downside is they don’t have many gluten-free options for people with allergies, but otherwise it’s a great spot. They could have more gluten-free options but they just need to make sure they keep separate oil and utensils.
My boyfriend and I had our second visit to The Ginger Root on Friday, October 3, 2025.
We were not disappointed - it was better than our first visit. The braised ribs and shrimp Fettuccine were delicious. The food was creative and excellent.

The Ginger Root offers a welcoming atmosphere and exceptional food. The prime rib is a standout dish, with a rich flavor and reasonable price. The homemade potatoes au gratin is also a highlight, with an unbeatable flavor. The restaurant offers a range of drinks, including the Virgin Pina Colada, which is highly recommended. The staff is friendly and helpful. The food was great, hot, and good quality. The fried country low boil was very tasty, with plenty of shrimp, sausage, and potatoes. The cluster of crab legs were awesome. This is some of the best food eaten in Alabama and worth the drive. Everyone at the table raved about the food.
