My first visit. I had Braised beef, collard greens and cornbread. The taste was good. The portion for the money was way out of line. There was a scant 1/3 cup of collards on my plate. Two forks full of collards! The piece of braised beef was about four inches long and as wide as your pointer finger and middle finger together. It was cut with the grain, which made it chewy.The cornbread looked like a Mason jar lid. Same size and just as flat. The cost of the plate was $34 plus a portion of bread was extra somewhere between $6-$8. With tea, it was $50 + tax and tip. I walked out hungry. I had really looked forward to eating at Ginger Root, because of positive reviews. Even though it is not about the money, it is about portion size, for the money.

Drinks took a long while to get there and had obviously been sitting on the bar for some time. Atmosphere would have gotten a 5/5 if not for the multiple YeeHaw Birthday announcements. Nothing against the practice, it just doesn't quite fit in with the elegance of the place. Everyone at the table raved about the food.

I cannot begin to explain how amazing the staff and food are The Ginger Root! Mrs. Hall, Peyton, and every single one of the employees have made every celebration a truly unforgettable experience! The food is by far the most exquisite and delicious plates I have been served from a restaurant! The ambiance of the building adds the finishing touches to make any celebration or simple date night one to cherish. We all unfortunately live out of town, but we make The Ginger Root a must stop destination when we come into town!
Although not many in the restaurant. Thankfully I brought my hoodie otherwise I'd have froze.
Other than that I had the Pork Chop. It's size would suggest it was a a Sheffield Pork Chop. (That's a cut of the meat by the way) I had asparagus and they signature side fried Brussels. Yummy My friend had the steak medium rare cooked slightly medium well and okra. Everything was magnificent.
Hopefully if I'm lucky you'll have lamb chops or lamb shoulder on the menu next time.
