Not sure if there’s new kitchen staff, but this was not the food that we’ve raved about in the past. The Cajun oysters were delicious, but the flavor ended there. From French fries to seafood gumbo, and whole catfish to red beans and rice, every dish was completely unseasoned. Even the coleslaw and buttered bread were bland and flavorless. We actually took half the food to-go so we could season it at home since it was too bland to eat. Hopefully, this is a one-off experience and the spices will return to the dishes soon. Very glad that we didn’t bring out of town guests for this disappointing meal. We’ll give it another try before long, but the staff didn’t seemed concerned when we let them know about the lack of flavor.

Old-school spot with tons of character. Perfect place to grab a plate of fresh oysters and a cold beer. Nothing fancy, just a laid-back vibe, friendly folks, and great food done right. One of those classic places you’re glad is still around.

This is a wonderful place to both eat and take in some great history of Sheffield and Alabama

Their food is wonderful! I love the Cajun baked oysters.

The atmosphere was great but the red beans and rice tasted like chili and the cole slaw was just cabbage and onions, there was no slaw dressing on it at all. I had fried shrimp as well and those were good. It looks like a great place to have a beer but I was not impressed by the food.

We ate there for the first time tonight. The blue crab claws were awesome. We ordered the grouper entree. The grouper was really tough to cut. It was dry and tough. The potato was great. Our waitress was nice.

Well folks another place to go with a unique history and atmosphere that is similar to an old tavern. The story behind Cajuns is pretty unique also, it was once a grocery store I believe a Shop Rite. The family had another restaurant prior to this one I wasn’t real clear on that one but Cajuns opened in 1985 and has been a staple for the locals and a great out of town restaurant. Cajuns food is as unique as its atmosphere with seafood lite you might call it, crab claws, oysters that are awesome by the way and several different plates you would find also burgers and such.
It’s a great place to go the service is great and the owners treat you like family so give it a try!

If you're Cajun or just drunk and violent, I have the place for you. The Shoals' hottest seafood restaurant is CAJUNS. Inspired by true events, this metal building cell phone dead zone next to O'Neal Bridge in Sheffield has everything. Freshly shucked oysters for frying, baking, or grilling (or raw dog 'em!), made from scratch Gumbo! Catfish, the best shrimp in the Southeast, as well as a world famous hamburger steak and a fine selection of meats for the grill! Rumor has it this is the ceremony spot for George Jones' 5th and final secret wedding! Ya gotta love The Possum!
