The chicken taco is awesome.

We waited over 15 minutes for a server to greet us. I had to go to the hostess stand to inform them and someone finally came by. The food was good though. We decided to just get nachos and quesadillas. Also had the chocolate Mexican spice cake. I'll return just not when there busy. Seemed to be a little overwhelming for their servers.

Had a great experience! The hostess was friendly, our server was amazing and the food was phenomenal. Look forward to eating here again

I would have given less stars, but the staff was friendly and the Watermelon Margarita was delicious! The food, however, was very disappointing. I ordered the Guacamole, Carnitas taco and Chicken Tinga taco. The Guacamole needed salt... it was very bland. The blandness continued with the Carnitas and Chicken Tinga. The meat was not only bland, but watery!?! I ordered the corn tortillas on the tacos and they came out cold. (Just FYI you have to heat/grill corn tortillas.) With the soggy meat, my tacos fell apart... at that point I wasn't going to attempt to eat them. Bottom line... If you want a great street taco, you won't find it here... I would recommend Cantina in Uptown.

Taco salad was tasty but entirely too runny. It was like eating soup. Rice was uncooked and without flavor. Drink selection limited to Latin American brands. 17 different selections of tequila over kill for the market. Good, quick friendly service.

They processed about 5 to go orders that were ordered wayyyy after my meal. Very upset. Manager didn’t show any empathy or offer anything for my inconvenience. Will never come back. Unfortunately the food is pretty good if you don’t have this experience

Probably the only fully female-managed restaurant on this side of town, Mexicali Blues offers a versatile and exceptional experience. With a diverse menu that can accommodate everything from the taco queen (try the KFC {Korean Fried Caulifower}, the Barbacoa or the Firecracker Shrimp) to the multi-course foodie. Their sushi grade salmon with mango salsa, boneless pork chop brined in Bailey's - Pineapple - Chipotle - Mexican Oregano, and their seafood fundido are some of the best dishes in town. Their margarita's are strong and the mixes are handmade on site. As if that isn't enough they have the best servers in Birmingham. Ask for Emma or Caleb and be ready to be amazed at their attention to detail. And when you leave, if everything has been just exactly perfect like we expect it will be, consider mashing that 30% button and showing your server (and the bartender and host and food runner that they split those tips with) that you appreciate the incredible experience all the way out in Trussville.

Save your money and go somewhere else. $60 for 2 margaritas and nachos to split. They weren’t even good and neither was the service. As a bonus you get dirty silverware and a wobbly table.

My husband and I visited and were thoroughly pleased with everything! From the moment we entered we were greeted and seated right away. Our server Emma was awesome and very attentive! Let’s start with the water. They either have a really good filter or just some excellent water on tap. This is normally a pet peeve of mine but I had no complaints. The complimentary chips and salsa were delicious! You could tell from the looks that it’s made fresh in-house and we both enjoyed it. We also ordered the Queso Blanco and Ancho Chile Wings for appetizers and they were both awesome. The glaze on the wings were perfect! We also ordered Elote (on the cob) Chorizo, Steak, and Firecracker Shrimp tacos! When I tell you that fire sauce on the shrimp tacos! My only regret is that I didn’t order some to go. You have a choice of flour, corn or lettuce for your tacos. We also ordered a strawberry margarita, Billie Jean and Ferus beer! We enjoyed it all! Some mentioned that it’s pricey but with the whole vibe, ambiance and quality of food - it’s well worth it. You have a really good view of the giant screen out in the courtyard and the essence of the restaurant and service is commendable. We also noticed our waitress Emma attending to other guests nearby and it warmed our hearts to see her sign along with them! We will definitely be back and highly recommend you give them a try as well.

Very enjoyable. Cauliflower picadillo chili relleno. Be sure to ask for a side of vegetarian beans. Had my first bushwacker. Drinks are strong enough. Impressive staff.

The food was really good! Try the steak taco and elote. And if you're in the mood, get a blueberry margarita on the rocks... you won't be disappointed ?

Cute little place in the entertainment district. It was fun to try something new. Would come back for the elote and the cauliflower taco. I think the price is high for the portions. $100 dinner for two. Skip the dessert.

It’s not authentic Mexican food and way over priced for medicinal food. Old El Paso is comparable to this place. Their guac was ok. It’s certainly not up scale like they promote it to be unless they are talking about the high prices.

Service was good, the food was okay and the presentation was nice. However for “street tacos” they were extremely on the pricy side for what you got.

Food was delicious, staff was on point even tho they were short staffed. Waiter had a great attitude. The blueberry Margarita was so good.
