Their pizza was my go to pizza.
They recently changed the dough now it’s like eating cardboard.

We had a carry out pizza 8 Jan 2026.

Food was great, the staff were all friendly. Wish they had real chicken fried steak, not the the frozen pre-breaded type.

The steaks & pizza at Roper's are top notch! We have eaten here several times with two to twelve in our party and have never been anything but impressed with the food and service.

I ordered chicken fried steak. The patty was paper thin and flavorless. The mashed potatoes were from a box and also flavorless. The gravy was blah. The only good thing was the pinto beans, they were delicious.

Unfortunately this was our first and now last visit.
The wife ordered fried chicken, they brought her grilled chicken and the server was adamant that's what she ordered and would brook no discussion of replacement.
Very run down inside as well means a hard fail.

My favorite pizza, the old shotgun dan recipe. The wait staff is always polite and keeps drinks filled.

On arrival to Roper’s, I was able to find the central counter staff to place my order. The atmosphere was pretty packed with a lot of cars in the back lot.

The manager, a very talented sir, completed my substations for adding tenders to my chicken order. His prices were fair and demeanor was inviting and kind. The ladies that took the order, made eye contact and quickly took the order and read it back verifying the order.

The Atmosphere, to this larger townie, had no privacy at the tables, it seemed more like a small business, low income establishment, old wooden furniture, walls and flooring. No real dividers between booths or large party seating. The visual restaurant identity was missing. Without being very inviting (to me) and out of townie.

As a person that avoids crowds and loud noises from a medical audio processing disorder, I might wish for a more secluded space with walled booth dividers, to limit the conversational noise. Not that anyone was annoying or there were babies crying. Not at all, just a lot of loud conversations due to volume levels.

I was told on my order, to pick it up via, drive thru, what a wonderful idea ! When returning to pick up my order, the manager (again) stepped in and compleated the experience. Telling his staff I already paid and quickly gathering my order.

The food however was not as expected. Just my dish. The cheeseburger was something you dream about. 2 huge Pattie’s of beef cooked to perfection on a huge bun. With FF. I was sad I did not order that option. My son had chicken fingers and he said they were good. He is always honest when it comes to chicken fingers.

However I had, the steak sandwich (Philly) which left much to be desired. It was very dry, I was unable to taste the ingredients and the bread was just ok. What it would benefit from is (1) mayo and (2) some salt on the meat.

The packaging was excellent. But a menu should flow and consumers should be able to order any menu item, knowing it’s gonna be amazing to match the rest of the items.

A Philly to me is

Shaved tender beef (don’t care about the cuts location) onions, green peppers, mushrooms, American cheese or cheese wiz, (optional jalapeños fresh or cooked) and either mayo or sour cream - Always on a soft sub bread and never under 8” usually 10”-12” as the bread is not expensive.

Ordered the chicken fried rice to go. It was extremely too salty. Could not eat it.
