It's closed! We tried to go the other night on a Saturday and it was closed at 6:30. The yelp website needs to show this.

Very good food and delightful service! Karla went above and beyond our expectations. Thanks for helping to make our reception a great experience!

I’ve been wanting to try it out, and was not disappointed when I finally did. It’s not a casual restaurant, and was a bit pricey, but the food was well worth it. It’s not the kind of Mexican food that’s smothered in cheese and salt. I felt full but still healthy after leaving. And my marguerita was one of the best I’d ever had.

Interesting that my old review (3 stars) was removed. I had not tried Carmelita's yet as they closed at 7pm and stated I would update said review after trying. Now they are open later and I was about to go try until I saw the Washington county restaurant inspection report of this place. Will not say what was on there but if you're thinking about eating here you may want to give it a look before going. Also, charged for chips and salsa? That review below was enough alone to make sure I didn't come back to try it out.

As a wedding planner, it is highly important that I recommend vendors that do excellent work, that's why Carmelita Catering is always my first recommendation. The food is always delicious and leaves guests raving. Their presentation and attention to detail is equally as impressive. Whatever menu you can dream up, the Carmelita team can make it happen!

Yummy delicious authentic food that is made fresh!!! Experienced chef's that LOVE what they do, a passion for certain. The BIG burrito & Guac are my favorite. ?

I enjoyed the food very much. The service was also very nice. For me, the music took me back to high school. If I could change one thing, I'd have cloth napkins and more art on the walls.

Our second visit, and will definitely keep going back! My Duck breast in red mole was one of the best things I've ever eaten; perfectly cooked, phenomenally flavored, and beautifully presented. Horchata is made in house from scratch, and you can certainly tell no prepaid mixes here. Customer service is also wonderful. Definitely a must try!

Overpriced and overrated! The chips and salsa is $8, you get 4oz of chips and 3 tiny portions of 3 different salsa. My son and I ordered the street tacos, beef and chicken, with rice and beans. $14 the meat was very dry and the rice wasn't completely done. Our family of 4 ordered waters and the bill was $78!

My wife and I love Mexican food. We have our favorites but when we see a new place, we often will give it a try. We have been seeing the signs for this restaurant and since it is close to home, we were hoping to find a new place to add to our list of favorites. The place appears clean and simple and they have limited menu which is okay. However, be prepared for sticker shock. This place is extremely expensive for what you actually get. We have never been to a Mexican restaurant that does not serve chips without charging for them, this is a first. We ordered the Mexican street corn as an appetizer but forgot that we didn't have any chips. It didn't really matter because the Mexican street corn is served on the cob. Not really sure have that gets shared with a group of people. Moving on! We then ordered the carne asada dinner to share since is alone was $31. What a shock when it was delivered to the table; a thick 6 oz steak, a prickly pear pad-grilled, 1/2 cup of rice, and onion and some kInd of pepper that was not even close to a jalapeño. Oh by the way, the best part of the experience was the music for the 60's and 70's. It was interesting that they had a sign inside talking about tacos, however, tacos are not on the menu.We came, we tried it and will not be coming back.

I had high hopes for this new restaurant but it fell flat. Carmelitas is tucked away in a strip mall area in Springdale. It is a tiny spot with a bar and a handful of tables and booths. The decor is nice with pretty fresh bouquets and plants and hanging lights. They have a cute area by the front with a record player and music. But the afternoon sun shines right in the wrap around windows and they don't have blinds, so everyone facing the front was blinded and had to duck down. We were excited to try their menu after reading a review about their big burritos and they tableside caramel topped dessert. But when we got the menu, it looked as if it was missing a page. It went from appetizers and a couple salads to 7 or 8 very pricey entrees and then dessert. None of the burritos and sandwiches we had seen, so obviously these were only lunch? Or an old menu and now they raised prices and took off popular items? The server was nice but busy and did not explain much or recommend. So we decided to just get an appetizer, drinks, and tableside dessert . When we ordered the dip trio, she said the sampler was the better deal, so we got that along with horchata to drink and we ordered the dessert. Drinks came in plastic to go cups for all of us which was the complete opposite of the upscale feel they were going for and smaller too. She then told us they were not doing the tableside dessert right now because they did not have a chef only 2 cooks in training. What? The main thing we came for and the main dish that has been shared about this place and no one: server, manager, or kitchen staff can prepare it? I was ready to leave right then, but my husband ordered the tres leches cake and wanted to give it a try. So we waited a really long time for just an appetizer, about 20 minutes. When we finally got it it was pork rinds, chips, guacamole, and 3 salsas. It was tasty but not nearly enough chips to dip, and of course, it was a $4 charge for more chips so we passed. This is not a bottomless chips kind of place, obviously. Then we told her we were ready for dessert and she brought out the tres leches cake. Let me tell you, we have had this dessert many times. We lived in San Antonio and loved it, but this cake, although pretty to look at with fresh berries and creme, was the driest tres leches I ever had. I have a hard time believing it had milk soaked in it at all. My kids devoured it, saying it tasted like yellow cake, which is exactly what it was. It tasted like it was old and dry and had been stored in the fridge. Overall, this could have been a cool place, maybe for lunch, but I don't think we'll be back. And unless you are wanting a fancy $40+ entree in a casual environment with a long wait for food, I would say skip it until they work out all their kinks, add some other options to the menu, and get the chef back in the kitchen.

Great chips and salsa! The California burrito is very tasty! Will be going back in the near future!
