I can't think of many places that I'd give an almost perfect score to, but AJ's just delivers on all fronts. The only thing I can even think of deducting points on is the seat availability. This place is constantly packed for good reason. Good beer, great staff, and awesome local people who are more than happy to get to know you if you're from outta town. The dinner specials are always rotating and everything on the menu has been so good, I went three days in a row.

AJ’s Oyster House is hard to beat!Let’s go to the negatives first. My wife said that I make better corn bread! So, there you have it. End of review. Everything else was excellent!This is a neat little place with outstanding food. If you like Gumbo, don’t eat here without trying the Arkansas Gumbo. That’s what my wife had and she loved it. I tried a taste and I thought it was excellent! No scrimping on the meats! It is packed and a great taste!I wasn’t going to go to an oyster house and not have oysters. I went for the fried oyster basket. These are rich little fresh nuggets, battered and fried perfectly. They are accompanied with excellent Cole slaw and those super crunchy parmesan fries.It is a nice small restaurant that has the ambiance of a local bar down on an ocean water front pier. The service is fast and very good.

By then we knew we couldn’t both eat an entree so we split the catfish étouffée with the corn casserole as our side. The étouffée was great, but the blackened seasoning on the fish was awesome. Will definitely return if I find myself in the area again.
