We've eaten at this AYCE several times. Be prepared to wait early before opening, or wait after opening. Abe's has a small Dining area with extra seating upstairs, and next to the cashier. Most foods are fried, along with hot water cornbread, boiled shrimp, greens, corn on the cob, red beans and rice, chicken and dumplings and other Southern favorites. Soft drinks are, available in fountain style along with a good choice of desserts which had their Famous Cinnamon Rolls,...
Not bad... enjoyed the atmosphere and layout of the restaurant as well its rustic appearance. The quality of the food was somewhat mediocre but certainly not terrible. The greens, for example, were bland and the taste of the shrimp etouffe was unmemorable. Also, the peach cobbler was not on par with restaurant quality. A lot of the food items were fried and high in sodium which isn't bad in itself, but it would have been nice to see more variety showcasing Southern cuisine....
There's always a ton of people here every time I go, they start serving at 5pm, and they open the doors early so people come in and line up down the whole restaurant and wait for 5. Then you pay and they give you a tray to help yourself to the buffet. If it's a major holiday, you will be eating while others stand in the open spaces between tables as they wait for a seat. Their food is delicious.
