The employees are friendly and courteous. The catfish is exceptional. The history and ambiance are what is important. The beer is cold and the blues jukebox is hot. The neighborhood is sketchy but we have never had nor seen any problems.

Mean and surly. Use to live the fine in experience. He barked about me standing out the counter to place an order then when I went to be seated to wait in the order he came over to my table asking me if I was okay now. I was like I’m fine. Then started again fussing about not wanting his place to be “ghetto” that’s why he doesn’t allow people to stand at the counter. Again I said okay. Sitting there a black gentlemen was checking g out and a white couple came to the counter clearly closer than I was standing he nothing but kindness and thanked them repeatedly for coming. Then called my name to pick up my order. I almost cancelled it earlier but this establishment is a staple in the community so I stayed. While paying he started again saying he was giving me a piece of cake for free for fussing at me. I told him no you were fussing at yourself because I will not engage. He started at me in confusion and I left. Got the food home. Paid $20 for medium filet sigh only and there were three nugget sized catfish strips with three pieces of bread on top. I don’t like my fish with juice cooking out so I trashed it. I will keep eating my Dads or fry my own. If you are going to be that grumpy at least give the food to back it up. IJS

I usually don't write reviews, But I was so hurt and disappointed in my experience. I love supporting small businesses, especially black owned, but this one will never get my support again. My late grandfather loved this place and I never been. So one day I thought about my grandfather and decided to go to one of his favorite places. I walk in at 7:07 p.m. and decide to get a buffalo dinner fried hard. I mentioned to him that this was my grandfather's favorite fish place. He mentioned that he knew my grandfather and that he was also at his funeral. That put a smile on my.While I was ordering he also mentioned that they would be closing at 7:30. I said awesome! That means I made it just in time. So he was done frying my fish at 7:20. He walked outside with my food and I asked him was it fried hard. He said since they are getting ready to close they wouldn't be able to fix it if it wasn't. I also asked for ketchup and hot sauce. He went back in and grabbed me some and had a attitude about it. So I mentioned to him that business is business and I hope he has an awesome day. He smiled and I smiled also. This was in early September. When I received my fish they were so small. But I decided to give it another try anyway in November. This time I decide to eat inside. I laugh and smile with the lady who takes my order. She goes to the back and tells the owner that I'm my grandfather's granddaughter. The owner comes to the table and tell me he doesn't appreciate me coming late last time and that he doesn't appreciate how I treated him last time. I was so respectful to this man last time and was still respectful to him in the moment. I responded by saying I only asked was my fish fried hard. And he stated well. You didn't appreciate me saying till 7:40 cooking your fish. Mind you I was out before they even closed. So he walked to the kitchen and I looked at him with confusion. Then he said why are you looking at me like that?. At that point I was ready to go and I told them to cancel my order. Everyone always talks about how bad his customer service is. I didn't believe it until now. For him to be so rude to me for no reason and come to me with so much anger. Was definitely disappointing. This is not a place, I will share a memory again for my grandfather!

So special and delicious. Arkansas history -- the really good kind -- that's worthy of respect and admiration. Take a step back in time, relax, breathe, and enjoy every delicious bite. My first time I tried catfish filets, okra and hushpuppies. Next time, I'm not missing the tomato relish... and apparently in season, they've got fried green tomatoes. This is one of only two James Beard award winners in the state. They weren't accepting calls. Get there bad attitude I know they are older people I'm also AARP status as well as a fast food manager. Mean & slow service at its best! 30 min wait with 2 ahead but good fish otherwiseParking: Terrible parking lot 2 meals for $50 not worth it plus the attitude the man yes man had!

First of all why is buffalo rib stripped down to only 1 rib, 8 skippy bones, nothing included in 1 dinner, no relish the sides $2,7/, hushpuppies not included,$30, not gone ever ear their again they are price gouging I will be filing a complaint with the attorney general's office

Watch the owner touch every door, cash register, money, and go in kitchen without washing his hands and handle food! Then he was rude with me for no reason at all and I was the only person in there. Never again!

My husband and I when in for dinner and I love eating fish, but I was disappointed on the price for the quality. We paid 30 dollars it wasn't 30 dollars worth of food on the plate, look like we had a kid's meal. And the older lady , she was mean mugging us because we came in at 4 and they closed at 5 and really didn't want to set us. I know prices have gone up on everything, but give me quality service and quality food and I'll paid quality money. 《Will not go back!!!!》

I'm a southern boy from Nashville tennessee. I love catfish, grits, coleslaw fried carp and Buffalo. This restaurants preparation of fried Buffalo have me cleaning the big bones and not encounter one small bone at tall. Simply the BEST!
