Mental BakeDowns and Pastry Attacks

After placing an order and having a lengthy discussion re character, colors, flavors, etc I was confident my daughter was going to have a simple, beautiful, fun birthday cake. Sadly I was unaware that Ryan's skill level at producing cakes and ability to follow simple instructions (i.e color) were so poor. It was specifically designated the cake be blue. It is pink and black. I sent my husband to pick up the cake and he was unaware upon looking at the cake that it was wrong as I placed the order and not him. The character on the cake looks nothing like the character it is based on. Even though the character is simple, it was entirely wrong. The face was not correct. The ears, the most defining feature were not correct. The character does not have hands but was created with strange hands and fingers. The work on the whole was less than kindergarten quality and I'm embarrassed to present it to my child tomorrow for her birthday. Ryan was unwilling to provide even a partial refund to make up for him making the cake the wrong color. Please don't order here. There are other reviews both here and on Yelp showing the poor quality of the work. Additionally you can see at least one sparky response from Ryan to poor reviews. I should have taken those reviews into stronger consideration before giving this person my money.

Mental Bakedowns has made several cakes and cookies for our families special occasions! These cakes and cookies are not only a piece of art but are absolutely delicious. If you are looking for something extraordinary you will not be disappointed! Thank you for doing a great job!

For my littles FIRST birthday, we wanted a cake to WOW everyone and our cake DID NOT disappoint!! We got a strawberry cake with homemade strawberry preserves in the middle and everyone RAVED! It was sooooo good and we had some left over to enjoy later! 😍😍😍 Highly highly recommend to anyone wanting an amazing cake with even better flavor 🩵❤️🩵

After a mid-afternoon table mishap that destroyed the wedding cake that was previously purchased elsewhere, Ryan and crew were able to create and deliver a cake in time to save the reception! the cake was beautiful and delicious. Definitely the perfect name for a bakery that saved a Sunday night wedding!

Ordered for an employees bday. Could not have been happier with how they look and tasted delicious!!!! Will definitely use again?

My work gave me a surprise birthday party & I'm always excited for the cake from a little rock bakery, but this year they couldn't even get the bakery to answer phone so they tried this bakery....and it did not disappoint- they got chocolate cupcakes with buttercream icing decorated like beautiful flowers! They were so delicious & this business has a few new customers!

Oh Thank God. I was in a bad spot when my normal bakery flaked out on me. I came across “Mental Bakedowns” via Google search and it was perfect. They were able to make my 2-tier cake for my daughter’s surprise sweet 16 birthday party in only 6 days and I was so grateful. Cake was moist and delicious. Great customer service. I definitely recommend and will use again in the future.

So so very disappointed in how this turned out. The side by side is appalling. I asked for the icing to be fixed and left with a $70 empty cake. To accept a cake request knowing you couldn’t execute it, and still charging $70 to be sent home with what I was given is appalling. Very disappointing way to start my birthday given I can’t use it for my photoshoot like I had planned. Definitely warranted a refund. I would be embarrassed to have my name attached to something like this. I haven’t tried the flavor, but at this point my expectations are low.

Decorated cookies are not their forte. We were very disappointed with our order. (See photo)
