This place feels like stepping into living history. I pulled in early on a weekend hoping to grab a quick bite and I did. It is tiny, just a couple of tables, but the pork sandwiches were smoky sweet and the sauce had a real kick from vinegar and cayenne. I know it is famous for a reason—James Beard, hall of fame—yet it still feels like your high school buddy’s secret spot who just smokes the best meat around.
It is popular so they often sell out before lunch. I waited too long another day and came back with mashed hearted regret. That said, nothing fancy but it stuck with me all day in a good way.

It was closed when we visited on a weekday morning at around 7:30AM. Their diner says open at 7AM till 1PM, and there wasn't any update or news about the location being closed. We were extremely bummed, especially after seeing all the positive reviews at this place. We were looking to stop by for a brunch, during our road trip but ended up eating elsewhere. It's disappointing.

I live in Southern California. This is the best BBQ in the country. When our relatives in Marianna come to Ca. They know they have to bring us some Jones bbq sauce. I wish there was a way to get the sauce shipped to us here.

Incredible BBQ. Super fast. It's a must stop if you are in Marianna whether you're hungry or not. And it's 100% worth a detour off of I-40.
