We've gone there every year for the past 20 years. And the food has always been delicious. On this trip, We purchased a family to go meal. The food was delicious, but for $40+, the so called fish fillets were pieces not actual fillets. So that was disappointing, as there wasn't enough fish to go around. We had to fill up on fries, and there was more than enough of them.
We have a little vacation spot in Mountain Home Arkansas we like to go to. This was our second trip to Fred's in 2 years. Highly disappointed the second time, doubt we will be back.. We ordered the Raw oysters. They were not fresh. Looks like they had prepped them and put a piece of plastic over them days prior. I thought the color was off but maybe they will be all right. Regretted it instantly They we're rancid. They took the oysters off the bill and replaced it with a salad that they did charge me for. I would think that maybe you throw me a replacement salad for free for eating a rancid oyster... Glad I didn't get sick. Stop pre prepping your shellfish guys you're going to kill somebody.

This was only my second time at Fred's , probably going to be the last time . Bad oysters. They pre prepped them and shucked them and judging from the color of the oysters it was probably a couple days old . I actually ate a rancid oyster and they didn't try to make it right. Didn't even offer a free salad. $5 extra off the check? Something to make up for my paranoia of getting sick from eating bad shellfish? I did have a mild case of diarrhea later that night. Was it the oyster? Who knows? I'm just glad that's all it was . Come on guys, this is raw shellfish, you have to be more careful than that. As Chef Ramsay says you're going to kill somebody...... The rest of the dinner was average.
Very nice place and people

Had the 3 piece fish dinner. Excellent batter on the fish. Drinks were also great. My wife had the frog legs and said they were fantastic. We are here for another night… will probably eat here again tonight!
Very nice, clean, relaxing, and has a great view. I had a three-piece and a pieces of fish was large if in the area worth the stop.

Great service, great views, and great menu variety!
Had the Cajun catfish. It was burnt. According to the waitress it their version of blackend Cajun fish. Obviously they haven't visited Louisiana for blackened fish or Cajun fried fish. The fries were not great and the hush puppies were hard and dry. Service and atmosphere was good. Building was clean. I don't recommend the Cajun fish.

We stopped on a weekend vacation to Lake Norfork. Ordered Fred’s favorite sea food platter and the fried pickles. Disappointed to say the least, the Food was very bland, tasted like it was frozen food cooked out of a box. The margaritas were in a 4 ounce shot glass. We received the appetizer along with the coleslaw, pickle, and pickled green tomato. (Coleslaw and fries were good) when we received the meal there was no catfish, the waitress said she was told it didn’t come with the fish but quickly checked the menu and went to the kitchen to correct the issue. However the fish was a disappointment as well, it was overcooked and breaded too heavy.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Fred’s Fish House – A Local Legend at Norfork Lake
Fred’s Fish House is a must-visit every time I’m near Norfork Lake. This place is a local legend—and for good reason. The fish is always fresh and perfectly cooked, the hush puppies are out of this world, and they’ve got a fully stocked bar that never disappoints.
The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with friendly staff and great service. Their outdoor seating gives you a perfect view and laid-back vibe that pairs perfectly with a cold drink and a plate of fried catfish. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, Fred’s feels like home. I look forward to eating here every time I’m in town.

Dropped in while out cruising on the motorcycle. Had heard nice things about this place.... we were not disappointed....the food was superb...Catfish may have been the best I have ever eaten....crispy and well seasoned on the outside....moist and flaky inside.....really a nice meal....the service was polite and attentive...just a excellent experience all the way around...I have driven past this place a hundred times in my travels and never had a reason to stop.....we will make a point to stop often....

I reviewed Freds years ago back before the fire. We were treated rudely at the hostess station (wanted us to suffer a 45 minute wait outside in 100 degrees). So, tonight, we arrived and waited in line at the hostess station with only 1 group ahead of us. Hostess snapped that we could not be seated in the porch area and sat us inside straight under a vent blowing arctic air. We looked around, tables were half full, people with no drinks, others with empty drinks no food, others with no drinks, food or even menus. We set a timer. After 5 minutes with no acknowledgement of our presence, we left. Basically, nothing has changed except they've got a nice looking new building.
