While vacationing in the PA mountains, I stopped for lunch at Leo's (June 15, 2023). I had the Italian sub and a JOE's mango lemonade. The sub was fantastic: meaty with just the right amount of lettuce, tomato, and onion. The spices were great, too. Not overpowering, but just spicey enough. The bun was lightly toasted and complimented the meat, cheese, and veggies perfectly. I also liked the added parmesan cheese sprinkled across the sandwich. The service is great. The staff is friendly and professional. Prices were very reasonable. I highly recommend Leo's when visiting this area.
The food is excellent ! My favorite is the roasted red peppers and mozzarella cheese with pesto mayonnaise on a home made bun. There are lots of other choices but I can't resist my fvorite!
Simply put, you won’t find a better hoagie. Even in neighboring State College, with their plethora of sandwich shops...they make their own hoagie rolls, and use Boar’s Head meats. They add their own dressing and parm...absolutely delicious. Highly recommend. Oh, there is little atmosphere. Not much to look at. But for takeout, it’s a sure bet!!
My wife and I are always looking for a good Italian sub. Our main requirement is an authentic Italian roll. Too many sub places use rolls made from plain bread. Leo’s Italian rolls are about as good as you can get. Another plus is they use romaine lettuce and not iceberg. They also carry frozen ravioli and red sauce you can take home. I would highly recommend Leo’s if you’re looking for a great Italian/hoagie.
I used to love coming here for lunch years ago when I lived in town. After being away for almost 8 years, I came back and was happy to see Leo's still open. I had lunch here again today and it was a great as I remember it to be! It's honestly one of my favorite places to eat in town. I love the quaint, homey atmosphere and the food is absolutely delicious! It's family run (bonus!) and they only accept cash. You WILL get fresh, homemade food and the pastries look too good to be true. It does get busy around lunch time (11:30 - 1:30), but if you need a place to meet and eat with friends, consider stopping here. If I'm in town after 2pm and need a quiet place to eat and work or meet someone, this is my first choice. Don't pass them by! You'll be happy you stopped in. Oh, yes, and by the way, they also have deli-fresh meats, cheeses and fresh-baked breads for you to take home!
Great sandwich shop. You order food and take a seat. The staff will bring you food. After you finish eating, you go back to the counter and pay. Sandwich is BIG.
