My husband and I ate at the Fat Chef for the first time last night, and I’m honestly still thinking about how perfect the whole experience was. The food was absolutely impeccable. The steaks and sides were rich, flavorful, and clearly made with so much care. The service was just as impressive. Christine was so warm, and took the time to chat with us throughout the meal and share the stories and inspiration behind different menu items. It made everything feel so personal and inviting.
And I have to say, the pecan cobbler might be the best dessert I’ve ever had in my life. Truly unforgettable.
From start to finish, this was a 10/10 experience, and I will absolutely be back. Highly, highly recommend.

We really wanted to enjoy our experience here because of the great recommendations. However it fell flat for us. It felt like a diner experience with fine dining prices. Plating was nice, but flavor of food left much to be desired. My twice baked potato tasted like it was baked 4 times. Steak was under cooked, and severely under seasoned, with a large portion jiggly hard fat that should have been removed. My husbands walleye was good, but again, his sides were under-seasoned. Cocktails were incredibly high priced. I didn’t even think about ordering one at around $25 a pop. When asked for a wine recommendation the server looked like a deer in the headlights. Over all we were disappointed. Also, the review replies of “we aren’t for everyone, and that’s ok” is not ok. Obviously there is an issue if so many people are having the same experience. Might be time to actually listen to your reviewers.

We really had a nice time here, steak and service was fantastic. But our $80 piece of sea bass was gag worthy. Please train your chef on fish preparation. It should not be cold/gelatinous or translucent. The owner tried to have the chef recook, but my husband who literally will eat everything couldn’t choke it down.

Amazing staff. Never waited for a drink or food. The food was beyond amazing. Bring your wallet but you won’t feel like you had been had when you leave. Worth every penny.

Amazing food, atmosphere, and workers. You will always feel welcome and taken care of here. If you get the chance to eat here, then the pecan cobbler with ice cream is a must try!

My husband and I initially noticed the unassuming Fat Chef restaurant when we were driving to Beaver Lake. I looked up the menu and was very pleasantly surprised.

Since our initial visit a couple years ago we have been back for a Christmas dinner, anniversary dinner and just because we love it.

It’s a husband and wife who own it. The restaurant provides a casual atmosphere with an elevated menu. They get fresh fish flown in (I ate mine before I took a pic 🤣 but try the walleye) and make their own breads and desserts from scratch.

*Keep in mind, the entree price includes bread, salad, starch and a vegetable.

You won’t be disappointed!

The waitstaff salvaged this review. My husband had been told to bring me here for a date as it was one of the BEST places to get food. We got a couple alcoholic beverages, the $240 porterhouse steak, lobster, shrimp, potatoes, and veggie special. The waitresses spoke very highly of the French trained chef. When we recieved our meal it looked beautiful and the scallops were cooked to perfection and my potatoes was one of the fluffuiest I've ever had. We asked for our steak to be medium rare. When I started cutting into the NY strip side it looked like much more of a well done cook. The center was closer to a medium well so we were willing to be forgiving. That being said when I cut into the fillet side it was so well done it looked like a brisket. I've never seen steak cooked that poorly before. We mentioned it to the waitress and she took the steak back for a minute to show the chef and he told her to being it back out and he would cook another filet for us. It took almost 30 minutes to recieve that filet and my husband unfortunately never even got a chance to eat the steak because it was boxed for us to go. I am so so so utterly disappointed. The lobster was over cooked and chewy and the shrimp was undercooked to the point of being slimy still. When we drop over $300 plus tips we have VERY high expectations and unfortunately this chef didn't even meet the expectations we would have at a Golden Corral. We honestly could have gone to Ruth's Chris twice over and gotten the quality of food we would expect from someone who charges $240 for a meal. We didn't feel like there was enough of an attempt to rectify the situation to justify ever giving them a second chance. There wasn't a discount given, a free dessert or anything. $370 is way too much money to spend on a mediocre meal especially when you've been so excited to go.

This is such a hidden gem in Arkansas! Great food and such nice and personable restaurant owners. NWA folks, give this local place a try! They made our special event such a memorable experience and the quality was much better than local steakhouses. Give it a try and you won’t regret it! Thank you Christine for a great evening!

By far best dining experience I've had in nwa. From the servers to the manager they treated us like we was the only ones there. Glasses was always full and food was top notch. Don't forget to make reservations

The food was delicious and the service was spectacular! Fine dining meets casual atmosphere, I thought that was so unique! Intimate meets rustic but also a neighborhood spot type of vibe! Would definitely be coming back ! Call ahead for reservations!
