Excellent place to stop and eat. Very nice folks and the food was perfect! We ordered the Swamp platter and MAN was it delicious! Catfish, shrimp, hushpuppies, gator tail, fries, slaw, beans and a relish tray. You will not be disappointed in this local owned restaurant. We arrived at 5pm, which is their afternoon opening time, and within just a little bit, the place was filling up with people eager to taste the wonderfully cooked meals. We will be going back soon! Cajun food at its finest!

I was highly disappointed. Took my wife and kids for dinner, and it cost us $102 for my kids to have chicken nuggets and fries, and we each had a dinner plate. Our food was cold... yes very cold because apparently they let the steamer table run out of water, and it turned itself off. so they did microwave it for us, but I was not happy about paying $102 for some nuggets and microwaved food. I would have enjoyed a frozen pizza at home from Dollar General better and saved $95 dollars. I would not recommend this place. Go into Texarkana and get a lot better meal and for less money...

Ark-la-Tex Homestead
Delightfully different, fun, interactive staff and amazing Family atmosphere. Live band that interacted with the kids. Seasonings on the table were delicious and I found out from one of their walk through's (for thank you's and greetings) (while jumping in and out of the kitchen to help and assist) the owner created the seasonings. The cook and some staff including the owner are originally from Louisiana and other staff are local, so it's real authentic tasting food. The waitress was very attentive. Very busy, but the food was awesome and worth it and we never felt rushed. I tasted both the Red and Seafood seasoning and then put it on my fries (no ketchup at all) and wiped the extra up with my burger ( the best part is the bun of my burger never got soggy ). Used Both kinds of the seasonings to be honest. The shrimp and grits were 100% better than what we've ever tried, even in Louisiana. My sister in law ordered the Alfredo and pasta with chicken. The Cajun taste of the chicken stood out in the best of many ways. You won't be disappointed. We definitely will be going back. Ohhh and they have a deck for outside seating and last night's air made it perfect to sit and have a drink before dinner. Loved it. Something amazingly different for a small town place where you have very few choices. Ohhh and the leftovers just marinated even more overnight and were just as delicious (for brunch) and we don't normally eat leftovers unless it is delicious the first time. Take it from a picky eater, if I can find several things to eat and try anyone can.Kid-friendliness: The band brought extra tambourines and shakers for the kids to interact with.
