A small, but fast and friendly food establishment. We heard they had the best fish in town, so we gave it a shot. We each ordered the 3 piece fish special, which came with fries, slaw, and beans. The pieces of fish were huge! The fish was made to order and it came out piping hot. I hear the burgers are amazing, but I'll have to save that for the next visit.

Judy's typically has good food but I don't go there anymore. I usually ordered food to be picked up. When I would go to pick up order I would wait a very long time even if food was sitting right by window. Girls inside were too busy waiting on inside customers to take care of me so food was cold most of the time. And orders were mixed up many times. One time I ordered HB, French fries and the only thing I got was French fries. They have so many customers but not enough help. No more Judy's for me. Too frustrating to go there.

Smoke-free sign. Smoke-filled porch. Go figure.
Food was slow. Judgment was fast.
After a week-long road trip with four kids and a dog, we were hungry and tired. I make a point to avoid chains and fast food in favor of supporting small-town restaurants. That is what led us to Judy’s Drive-In in Waldron, Arkansas. I won’t be making that mistake again.
We didn’t try to go inside. We went straight to the patio window because we had a dog with us and wanted to be respectful. As we walked up, two women were sitting right next to the window smoking. That wouldn’t have been worth mentioning if it weren’t for the big “Smoke-Free Restaurant” sign taped to the window beside them.
The young woman at the window was kind and let us know dogs weren’t allowed on the porch. We told her that was fine. We were just there to place a to-go order and would eat in the car. While we were still ordering, another woman came rushing from the back of the building like we had brought a wild animal. It was just my daughter holding our small dog. The original employee explained we were not staying on the patio. The woman left, and we finished ordering.
We paid nearly $70 and were told our food would be ready in about 15 minutes. We waited in the car with no complaints. Then the waitress brought out food and drinks that weren’t ours. We let her know and handed everything back. She said she would get our order and disappeared. Fifteen minutes later, she returned to the window and told us our ticket had fallen behind the counter and our food hadn’t been made yet.
In that time, we watched plenty of other customers walk in, eat, and leave. None of them had dogs. None of them waited an hour. About the time I was wondering if our food was ever going to come out, the woman from earlier stepped back onto the patio to smoke again. She lit up under the same sign that still read “Smoke-Free Restaurant.” Shortly after that, our food was finally brought out. The gravy we ordered was missing. Because of course it was.
I drove back up to the window and asked for it. I also asked if we had upset someone by bringing a dog. The waitress told me no, they just have to follow state law. But Arkansas law does not actually ban dogs from restaurant patios. It allows local restaurants to request a variance through the health department if they want to allow outdoor dining with dogs. That is a business choice, not a legal requirement. Blaming the law instead of owning the policy just felt dishonest.
As for the “Smoke-Free Restaurant” sign, I’m not sure what part of that applies when customers and staff are smoking at the patio window. It certainly didn’t seem to matter when we were there.
This stop set us back an hour on a long drive home. That matters when you are a single mom traveling across the state with four kids and a dog. We were polite. We followed every rule. We just weren’t treated the same as other customers.
We will not be back.
