Colton's Steak House & Grill

I was in on 1/1/25 ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken dinner as I always do, only on this occasion it was horrible. It tasted as if it was cooked in burnt grease, I told the waitress and manager about it. The rolls are not prepared properly either because they are to doughty. I’m not going back due to the fact that they need better and experienced cooks not young kids in training.

Beware!!! Disappointed Twice at Colton’s Steakhouse - White Hall

We are new to the area and about to move here, so we were excited to try Colton’s Steakhouse in White Hall. Unfortunately, after giving them two chances, we will not be returning. While the food and drinks were decent, the service has been absolutely terrible both times.

On our first visit, we ordered the chips and queso appetizer, which was pretty decent. For entrees, we had the fried catfish, the bacon-wrapped filet, and a 6oz ribeye. The filet didn’t even look like a filet mignon should, and the catfish looked like it came straight from Captain D’s. All of it was subpar, but we decided to give them another chance.

Tonight, we ordered the Santa Fe egg rolls and queso as appetizers, which came out fairly quickly but were, again, subpar. For entrees, we ordered a chicken sandwich, BBQ bacon salmon, and the chicken and rib dinner with salads. None of this should have taken long to prepare, yet we waited an unreasonably long time. Our waitress claimed the salads took so long because they were “restocking the salad bar.” Seriously? Meanwhile, other tables that arrived well after us got their food, ate, and left before we were ever served.

We arrived at 5:40 pm, were seated by 6:00, and didn’t receive our entrees until 7:30. For a $120 bill, this kind of service is absolutely ridiculous. We don’t mind paying for exceptional food and service, but this was neither. It’s absolutely unacceptable how good-paying customers are treated here.

We are always friendly and don’t like to cause a scene, but this experience was infuriating. After two terrible visits, we will not be returning, and we do not recommend this location to anyone. Dining out should be enjoyable, and Colton’s Steakhouse in White Hall has completely failed to deliver.

The 10 oz sirloins were very thin. I ordered medium, my brother ordered medium rare. Both steaks were well done. As thin as the steaks were I don't know how the cook could even prepare them medium much less medium rare. Colton's needs to source thicker steaks because the thin ones are very dry.

The side dishes were outstanding. Potato soup, loaded baked potatoes, okra, Mac and cheese, and others were all very good. The rolls were excellent. Our waitress brought us rolls almost as soon as we were seated and she made sure the basket never ran out.

Our waitress was incredibly attentive and kept our drinks topped off without being particularly noticeable doing so. She was one of the best waitresses I have had since the COVID pandemic.

I gave 5 stars in spite of the steaks being too thin because everything else was perfect. I would be hesitant to order a sirloin again. The sirloin was not something that I would order again because I don't think the steaks can be cooked well unless you enjoy well seasoned shoe leather. I would be embarrassed to serve steaks that thin at a family cookout.

We took our son Colten to eat here due to the name. He was visiting from out of state. Service was top-notch, and the food was good. We all enjoyed the food and the time together. Thank you, we will be back!

Our highschool football team the Junction City Dragons had reservations to eat here yesterday before a game. When we arrived, the staff greeted us, had our section ready for over 45 people, and had our food and drinks out in minutes. The staff stayed on top of rolls, drinks, and anything else our group needed. I would definitely recommend this location to anyone and we will be back to this one again. Thank you staff for your professionalism and work ethic for our football team. The Junction City Dragons Booster Club.

We should have checked the reviews before visiting this restaurant, as its 3.7-star rating seems to be telling. The location was convenient, being right next to our hotel, but unfortunately, the food was disappointing.

The potato soup was gummy and non edible, the chicken egg rolls were passable at best, and the salad tasted less than fresh, with vegetables that didn’t seem to be at the proper temperature. The peanuts were the only highlight of the meal.

While our server was friendly and attentive, the overall quality of the food left us feeling like we wasted our money. Sadly, we ended up disposing of most of it. The convenience just doesn’t make up for such poor food quality.
