I lived in Baton Rouge back in the day and can confirm this place is legit if you want Cajun. Food was good, service great (carry out), and prices fair. Surprisingly, the peach cobbler was my favorite item. Slightly different than other peach cobblers I’ve had but in a good way. Something with breading/crust was really good. 👍

So this is my first time coming here and the restaurant is clean and it smells good when you walk in. It was not very busy during the lunch hour rush. However, I order the sampler platter and 12oz of seafood gumbo and dirty rice. The catfish that was on the platter was not fresh and had spoiled and the chicken tenders are tough and was over cooked. The batter was wet and falling off of everything. The fried oyster was not fresh and breading fell off as soon as I touched it. The dirty rice was not seasoned. The boudain balls were mushy and the batter was not crispy and it was flavorless and mushy. The seafood gumbo was just like soup it was so watery. And the had pre frozen very tiny baby shrimp that was precooked. Gumbo had a ok flavor but was so watery, and it also had one cook oyster and thats all the seafood no crawfish ir anything else. The gumbo went right thru the rice straight to bottom of plate. The catfish was spoiled and that's not okay we could have gotten sick. Never the less we did not eat that meal. And wont be going back. I have a lot of family from lousiana and this is not the flavors or expectations I had for lousinan cooking.

Great Creole food. We went on a Friday evening at 5pm. The restaurant only had plastic dinner wear. We were told the real silverware was being washed.

The food is authentic. The hush puppies are HUGE so be ready. I recommend the catfish. The crust is cornmeal and the fish is super clean. I would only adjust the heat seasoning. It needs a tab more.
The red beans and rice are tasty. I didn't try the blackened fish or shrimp but what I did eat could have used a bid more Cayenne heat...just a bit.

Overall the food rocks and the front counter lady was super nice and helpful.
